Another solution is you could buy a USB mem stick and keep all your data on that and not on the HDD?

Sorry for the confusion but yes I have more than one computer. When I joined the proplem I had was on XP that was why I put it in my profile. I will alter my profile later to show what I have got if thats possible. Anyway I think I know what the problem was, I created a new folder and put the files I could not delete in there I then deleted the folder I was trying to OK. The software update I was doing told me I had to delete this folder, I then ran the update which re-created the folder and updated files. I then re-booted and everything was fine, so I opened the new folder I had created and deleted the files and it let me, so I pressume I could not delete them before because they were being used but instead of telling me this the computer just told me I had not got the permission to do so. That problem is solved but I have another (starting to hate Vista) if I can't solve it in the next few days I am sure I will be starting another thread. Thanks for all your help this is one great site.

Please please help For the last 4 hours I have been trying to delete a folder in vista. I have enabled the so called secret Administrator I have taken ownership of the folder but I still cannot delete it. The folder concerned is: program files/windows home server, I have shut both the program and the server down but it still keeps telling me I need permission to delete it. The only other option I can see is to format my hard drive. I have looked everywere on the internet and this forum but any solutions I find do not seem to work for me

Anyway I am looking for a 24" monitor that will conect to DVI mainly. I also would need a vga for older computers and a connection for a WII, ie S video. This monitor seems to do the lot, so I could connect a number of devices to it, but does somebody know of a better monitor that has a similar amount of connections?

BUT after reading what you have said and remember I work away from home a lot I am normally only home for one weekend in three, I think I may put this on the back burner for a while, whats the point in paying a lot of money on something I will only use once every three weeks? I am home at the momment on a local contract which I hope will last until xmas, I have just bought a 46" HD LCD telly so am thinking I might be better off getting a HTPC at least the wife would get some benifit from it and it would be a higher spec than the computer I have now, so if need be I could use it when I am home (as long as Eastenders, Corrie, Emerdale, etc, etc is not on) anyway sorry to have wasted your time, if you have any specs on HTPC's please let me know. PS I forgot to thank everyone on this site its so friendly and if you ask silly questions no one flames you, I had no hesitation in making a contribution to this site as if you think about it people like me (and theres a lot of us out there) would not be heading for this site (as without donations it would not be here) but for the toolbox, for the biggest hammer we could find. So in your experience what is the best AV to have my isp is virgin and I use their AV but it only suports 3 computers. I allready have three am about to build another and my Daughter has just come home from abroad with 2 laptops, One of my laptops I use mainly approx 90% of the time on a 3 dongle and thats the one I get the spam emails on? I am no expert on this but I believe DVI can also carry audio signals ie dreambox is DVI to HDMI but carries audio as well. But this is one of the reasons I wanted HDMI to HDMI as its one cable no need for audio cable as well, at the momment I have so many cables running from this to that it just looks so, well just so much a mess

So if I am reading this correctly I would be better off with a TV with a DVI connection. This is not a problem as I need a new TV for the kitchen so this one can go there and I can replace it with one that has a DVI connection for my computer. Also do you still recomend the 4870 x2 as the best graphics card, I appretiate this may be difficult not knowing the other components but this section is for graphic cards once I have sorted this I will post a thread in the build section with my full spec

Hi all Hope you can help I am in the process of drawing up a pick list of parts to build my computer, but I am having trouble with the Graphics card. What I would really like is to have a HDMI output port on it as I will be using a 22 inch HD telly as the moniter. I am presumming a HDMI connection would be better than a VGA connection
