  2. Anyone have knowledge of Dragon Naturally Speaking 10? I had the 7 version, removed it to start up the new one. The disc will not read. Now I have no version on my pc. The disc is readable on my wife's PC which runs Vista. I run Window XP Home. Any ideas would be appreciated.
  3. I want to thank everyone who replied to my question, buy reading some of the information I was given I found out that I had different workgroup names I corrected that and now everything is fine . thank you very much
  4. OK so this is my problem. I have two computers side-by-side, the first computer is an XP home edition . the second computer is a windows vista home premium. In the middle is a linksys modem (not wireless) . the modem is about eight years old , and was originally connected to two xp I just purchased a kodak esp 7 printer and connected to the window vista through a usb cable, and I cannot get it to share with the Windows XP. I have Internet cable charter that works just fine between the two computers . but I cannot get the printer to work. Question should I connect the printer directly into the modem. Would it be easier if I just went out and bought a wireless modem. What should I do? I know this is probably not the information you . so if you need more please ask. Please be detailed , because I am not very computer literate . thank you
  5. My wife and I have computers side-by-side, there is a router in the middle. I have cable line going to router from the router to each of the computers. My computer is an xp, my wife's is a vista. What I want to know is it possible to share files, virus protection program, and things of that sort. Right now the only thing we share is the Internet cable
  6. Thank you very much for your help, one thing I learned higher is not always better. Explorer eight was a disaster for me.
  7. Thank you very much for your help, one thing I learned higher is not always better. Explorer eight was a disaster for me. Today , I going to install Firefox. One question , will I have trouble with the Windows pop-up block.
  8. In the hope upgrade my computer I downloaded explorer 8 beta ,I don't like it. So I want to go back to explorer 7 how do I do that. I also been thinking of going to firefox. My computer is a xp home addition 2002 with sp 3.
  9. I will continue to use the computer as it is, I will check on the prices of the psu and if the prices reasonable will consider doing that. Even though I do not know much about computers for some reason logic tells me that the avg calls sometime of conflict in the software but I have no way of finding this out, so I will go with the experts. I want to thank you very much for your time in the trouble and if anything new comes up on this kind of problem please let me know
  10. This whole thing started one day when my wife turned On her computer. She got a message her computer was at risk She lost her avg, at the same time the printer started acting up and would not respond and the Monitor started shutting down once or twice a day. When the monitor shuts down the light on the unit are still on but it will not reboot so we would unplug the unit and then reboot, sometime the monitor would go back on if you press the monitor button are continuously press a key keyboard keys. Do not know if any of this is related. Things I have done, had the computer clean and diagnosed everything is OK, deleted avg and install McAfee. Sorry . that's all I know
  11. Buddy Holly, the Supremes, little Anthony and the Imperial, Richie valens, jackey Wilson, now you're talking real rock-and-roll
  12. The same problem with the monitor periodically shutting down . First I was told computer needed cleaning . so I had a clean and diagnose everything was OK. The people who clean my machine then suggested it's probably a software conflict and suggested I reinstall Windows. While I don't have the windows disk for that machine anymore and I can't afford to buy tham. I was hoping you could tell me if there is a way to manually fix a conflict. Also , I was told it might be the video card . I would appreciate your advice I have a less annoying problem with the clock, when my wife and I are playing games a dialog box comes up and tells us not to adjust the clock. At the exact same time my monitor started shutting down we had the problem with avg so I deleted the program. We also had an error message from our printer program so I deleted that everything else runs OK. I'm not sure of all this ties together I'm just giving you all the information I can.
  13. Do I have a software conflict Hope you can help, computer runs great but it shuts down the monitor on its own once a day, sometimes every other day. I changed monitors and the computer shut down new monitor. The CPU dosen't go off, and has to be hard booted by turning it off or at times will reboots by continuously pressing the keyboard or the monitor key. I had "AVG free" which shut down on me and gave me error messages, This is about the same time my computer starting acting funny. I had the unit cleaned and inspected and found no hardware problm. I also lost my printing ability, and cona not install it again so I had to removed the printer from my computer. How do you determine if the software is are conflict or corrupt? And, above all how do you fix it? I am not computer literate . so if you need more information and aske Windows XP 2002 home edition
  14. I hope of doing this right, just learning how to get around here. Nothing more to say , a dialog box comes up and says do not adjust your clock will playing the game. Also , from time to time the clock itself has to be adjusted because the Time is wrong. This does not affect the operation of the computer in anyway
  15. I don't wish to replace his unit unless I absolutely have to.knackered psu. Can you explain more about this, is there anyway , I can check this out on the computer. Also , I have one other problem he may or may not have anything to do with this. Every now and then well my wife and I are playing games on pogo a dialog box comes up and it says do not adjust your clock . I appreciate your help and your time so much . thank you
