My ati 9800 pro 8x agp card ran fine in my msi K7N420 PRO 4x agp mobo. Also had geforce 4200ti 8x card running in my old amd k6-2 500mhz agp 2x system. I think you can use a newer agp card but it will obviously only run at the maximum speed supported by your motherboard. My msi K7N420 PRO system with 9800 pro and athlon xp1800 would run half life 2 ok @ 4x agp but had to buy a new system to play the latest games like cod4.

I won't be overclocking it the 6000+ doesnt overclock much anyway from what I've been reading also my mobo isn't the best for that either. Increasing the processor was a cheap upgrade and should make a big difference compared to my 3800 x2 chip especially in newer games where the 3800 was def holding me back. Should last me for a while don't wanna fork out on a new system just yet as the tech changes so quickly. I may aswell use this as long as Its copes then build a new base unit with latest tech in.

Great news! Thanks for quick replies. I have a new heatsink and fan in box with processor but I have been told that the stock fan doesnt keep it cool enough so may have to get a new fan yet. Thanks again :)

Hi I wish to exchange my athlon 64 x2 3800+ amd2 processor with athlon 64 x2 6000+ amd2 2MB L2 cache processor. My mobo is Asus M2NPV-VM bios Revision 0504 (10/17/2006)-Phoenix tech ltd. I am aware that the processor is compatible but I have never changed a processor before so my question is: Can I just change the processor over with my current install of windows intact or do I need to do a fresh install?

Hi there I googled pc help and up you popped. Im an avid pc gamer from bedford uk heres my clans website wxw.thelostpatrol.co.uk put up by me using the e107 content management system. I also do our server admin although I have had to teach myself web admin and server admin for the lads (as no other bugger would do it!) in my clan so there are plenty of gaps in my limited knowledge. Don't worry though I havent signed up looking for help with my clan admin :D
