thanks KenB - well, I plugged the cable into a different USB port ( between you and me I didn't know that I could use the ones at the front as well as at the back - how dumb is that!) and tried the printer again and it's printed. my whole package is over 5yrs old and yes it did work fine before. Sooo will try it for a while with that and see what happens - thanks so much for the pictures makes such a difference, when you know as little as I do just saying doesn't always register the meaning. my excuse is that i'm elderly but I do try. thanks again Ken. if it fails will come back with the other info.

Hi Nev - model is 'Dell Photo AIO Printer 926' and it's wired. How do I get another cable? do I have to get it from Dell or just a shop that sells that sort of thing.. thanks for your reply.

PC telling me (and it often has) that no connection between pc and printer. Have done all the things they suggest - several times. on the odd occasion it will work and then goes down again. I have taken out the printer and then used the original disc to put it back again, still to no avail. Can't tell you how many times I have turned it all off and then on again - as I said sometimes that works but mostly not. Any help appreciated but hope it's not too technical! thanks.

a box keeps appearing on my screen, it tells me -- ' APSDaemon.exe -Unable to locate Component --- this application failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Reinstalling this application may fix this problem' Frankly I have no idea what this means - could some kind person explain it to me. thanks

hotmail problem I may just do that - but should I uninstall AVG first? how do I check that it's all gone if I do that? one other thing (not sure I should ask here) can't get into my on-line banking either, same thing happens, blank page. is there a connection?

hotmail problem I don't know how to do that - I uninstalled McAfee so do you mean that the firewall is still there? or is it something I should have done before I uninstalled it. My subscription has now expired - hence installing the AVG - so wouldn't McAfee also have deleted anything of theirs?

hello againhave recently uninstalled McAfee and installed free version of AVG - since then haven't been able to access my hotmail account, just get a blank page. Have transferred now to Windows Live Mail (more by luck than judgement) but although I can receive mail I can't send it.I have windows vista home premium, IE8 and ISP is tiscalli. What have I done wrong? seems a bit of a coincidence that it's happened since the uninstall/install process. if you have an answer would you speak slowly cos I'm elderly and the brain's not as bright as it was.Thank you

ads on e-mails Thanks Goku - I don't use Mozilla Firefox and I think I'll avoid the 'complex' route, as you suggest. Will try AdMuncher and see what happens. Tootech - Not sure it's to do with junk e-mails/malware, my daughter has same problem but chooses to ignore them, I'd rather get rid! I use windows mail (I think - Oh dear) I click on Hotmail on the home page then sign in. Don't know the technicalities, sorry. Thank you both for your time - no doubt I'll be visiting the website again, but it's very nice learning something new.

Am getting increasingly annoyed with the ever-present ads that appear on the right side of my e-mails. some are soooo inappropriate - can I get rid of them? Also find that when I print out my e-mails the ads seem to get in the way of the words and I only get part of the e-mail - is that a separate issue or is it really the ads blocking it? would appreciate help with that.
