  1. anyone got any thoughts?
  2. I have done this now, and the problem still persists, but only occasionaly.. around half of the time it will shut down perfectly but then sometimes it still freezes at "Windows is Shuting Down".. Thanks
  3. Secondly i was looking through the forums and found this hotfix for SP3 XP machines.. (Network Map in Windows Vista does not display computers that are running Windows XP) which i have downloaded, but i still cant access the files on my XP using the Vista. (but the pc does show in the network folder everytime now).
  4. 1) Correct. 2) My network has always worked perfectly until vista was involved. 3) Only Windows Firewall, i have tried disabling nothing happens. 4) All PC's (both vista and xp) have a-vast free anti virus. 5) The shared printer is connect on a XP yes, the other xp can access it, and the vista just finds "Printer", no name or anything and the vista only displays it, i can't do anything with it. 6) Yes every PC is fully up to date... SP3 and with auto updates running all the time. Hope this helps.. thanks.
  5. I am running a wireless vista premium, and i have a home network of this vista laptop and two pc's running xp. The XP computers are fine, i do file sharing and printer sharing through them all the time, but this vista laptop won't connect to them, it finds the two xp desktops when i go into the "Network" option on the start menu, but when i double click on them to try and look at what options i have within them pcs, it doesnt load anything. One last thing is that i can access the files on this vista laptop off my xp desktop, but i can't access the xp computers off my vista computer. Any suggestions.. Thanks.
  6. All that did was made my pc run really really slow and didnt solve the problem :( THanks.
  7. It froze on shutdown, i had to turn it off at the plug.. when rebooted i entered safe mode and again i recieved these same lines: Did not load driver Bluetooth Serial Port Did not load driver Bluetooth Serial Port Did not load driver Bluetooth Serial Port Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\ndisuio.sys Did not load driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\rdbss.sys Did not load driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\mrxsmb.sys Did not load driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\ipnat.sys Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\srv.sys Loaded driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\TDTCP.SYS Loaded driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\RDPWD.SYS Do you want me to upload the whole file for you to look at? Thanks.
  8. Done this and on shutdown i got an error saying cannot terminate explorer.exe or something, i can't say if i got the dumprep error or not, and about it freezing, it didn't freeze this time, but i'll keep you informed if it freezes in the future. Thnaks
  9. It froze at shutdown, but the first time of booting up i forgot to activate safe mode, but it got to the log in screen and i restarted and here are the last few lines: Did not load driver Bluetooth Serial Port Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\ndisuio.sys Did not load driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\rdbss.sys Did not load driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\mrxsmb.sys Did not load driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\ipnat.sys Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\srv.sys Loaded driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\TDTCP.SYS Loaded driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\RDPWD.SYS Is this what you wanted? Thanks.
  10. When i shut down my computer again last night, it froze again.. So it is now happening around half of the time. Dirtypolo, yes that is the message that i get when i shutdown. ang suggestions? Thanks.
  11. I have done this and i think it has solved the problem. I still get the dumprep error at shutdown but this doesn't bother me.. the fact that my computer doesn't freeze anymore at "Windows is Shutting Down" really pleases me. Therefore i would wish to thank you for your help, wish you a merry christmas, and i would give a donation, but i am under 16 and therefore can't have a Paypal account. :(
  12. Sorry i have seem to have been mistaken.. i still get the dumprep errors when i shutdown. Also something else i found out was that if i shutdown my computer before it has been turned on for around 10minutes, it seems to actually shut down properly and not freeze, but if you shutdown after 10 minutes, it does freeze. Answer to your question is that, yes i do.. i have a NVidia GeForce 7300SE and i have (i think) the latest drivers.. Thanks.
  13. Thank you for the advice. I have now got rid of AVG and have replaced it with Avast, i am proud to say that i no longer recieve the dumprep error anymore, but my pc still freezes when it gets to "Windows is Shutting Down" and i have to turn it off at the plug. Any suggestions on how to fix this?, Thanks.
  14. I tried both copy and pasting and typing "shutdown -t -0" into run, all that happened was a cmd box came up for a fraction of a section, and after that, nothing happened at all. Yes i do have a Logitech mouse and keyboard. I have the Cordless Desktop EX110 http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/keyboards/keyboard_mice_combos/devices/154&cl=US,EN I also run AVG Free Anti-Virus. I have had no problems with either, but since this error has started coming up.. AVG has always failed to update.. It says "Invalid Update Control CTF File". As can be seen in this screenshot: ImageShack - Image Hosting :: avget6.jpg Do you suggest i try shutting down without AVG running or re-install it or whatever. Thnaks.
  15. Again thank you for you reply Goku. But sadly this has had no effect on the error or the freezing :( Do you have anything else i can try.. Thanks.
