Obscure network setup

Please can anyone help? I am a fairly aged PC user, though of many years "at it". I have two PCs - an old one running XP and a newer one on Vista. I had my system set up for me so either one could connect wirelessy to Broadband via NVIDIA kit. New machine needed the hard disc replacing, so lots of re-installing progs. However when I try to connect new machine to Broadband it demands my password, or key. I haven't a clue, nor am I in touch with the person who set up the network. Is there a (cheap and easy!!) way to get over this? Very grateful indeed for any help or advice. Regards Mike -
