Excellent, I have a Nvidia GeFroce 7XXX in my PC at the moment, I bought it for the HDMI output, and it's really poor. Thanks for your input. -

Ok, what's the reason for that? Is it just better all round, certain spec better? Thanks for your help -
Hi all, Been doing some research and composed a list of parts for a PC I want to build and would love a second or third opinion if possible. I have a max of £600 on a system, I use the system for web viewing, DVD / Video watching (Via HDMI Out cable) and heavy(ish) games (GTA , COD4 , FIFA Etc) This is what I've got so far... Processor - £106.69 Core 2 Duo E7600 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E7600 3.06GHz Socket 775 1066Mhz 3MB Cache Retail Box Processor - Ebuyer Motherboard - £63.71 ASUS P5QL PRO iP43 ASUS P5QL PRO iP43 Socket 775 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard - Ebuyer Memory - £37.16 Crucial 4GB (2X2GB) DDR2 800MHz Crucial 4GB (2X2GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 Ballistix Memory CL4 2.0V - Ebuyer Hard drive - £58.99 Samsung EcoGreen F2 1TB Samsung EcoGreen F2 1TB Hard Drive SATAII 32MB Cache - OEM - Ebuyer DVD drive bluray - £80.85 LG Electronics Blu-Ray & HD-DVD-Rom Combo 16x DVDRW Black SATA - Retail Box With Software - Ebuyer Graphics card - £159.99 PowerColor HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDTV PowerColor HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDTV Out PCI-E Graphics Card - Ebuyer Power supply - £35.19 Powercool 550W 80plus Powercool 550W 80plus Certified Efficienty PSU - 1x PCI-E 4x SATA - Ebuyer Could choose from here: Cheap Computer Cases, Gaming Cases at Ebuyer - Antec, Coolermaster and more! Should I be going for either midi case or full tower. Will I have cooling issues? There are some things like the bluray drive I figure makes sense, but might not need it that's about £40-50 saved? I'll be sourcing the OS my self. So rough total = £592.58 I also received this advice.. I already have a 1TB external for all media storage, and use around 40% of the 180GB internal for programs and pc running stuff. So don't really need a new HD either. I could prob ditch the BluerayDVD drive too and use my existing DVDRW Drive. Can anyone give me any thoughts, or recommendations?

Windows can't find anything. Having looked through the web for hours, I am just giving up hope. Lots of other seem to be having the same issue. Are there are drivers which are "basics" which cover the basic function ?

I'll only echo the above. I originally bought a 5m DVI > HDMI cables to hook up my LCD TV. It turned out to be to short. I bought an adapter ( as I already had a 3m DVI >HDMI cable ) to connect the two. When viewing films on the LCD TV the quality was poor, and fairly noisy. I returned the cable and bought a 10m cable with no breaks. It's now crystal clear and perfect.

Hi all, me again. I bought a webcam a while ago off Ebay. It works fine but I've just reformatted and can't find the disc. The camera model is Lupo and it has no seriel number on it. Can anyone shed any light on how I can install it ? The camera is still advertised on amazon at the moment... LUPO USB Webcam With Microphone & Night Vision: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Oh bugger. Well, I actually had old drivers for the card installed. From Oct 2007. So just dowloading and installing those now. I didn't uninstall any previous drivers for my old onboard one. . Is the BIOS a think I can easily mess up ? Ha.

Ok, all's not so well. The card I bought was PCI Express. My Mobo has no PCI Express slot. So bought an AGP Card instead. I bought a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT. I thought this would be all good. Seems not. When installing and running, it seems to have slowed my whole PC down. I installed the drivers which came with it, there doesn't seem to be any later ones. When watching video it can freeze every now and again, and typing in web pages here seems awfully slow. I didn't disable the on-board one, as I presume this card did it it's self. Is that something I need to check ? The card has 512MB RAM, and my system now has a full 2GB. I recently moved all my audio onto an external HD. I've also performed a full windows defrag, anti virus and two spyware programs. All comes back clean. Is there anything obvious to why it's acting so sluggish with this new card. I also performed an internet speed test to ensure it wasn't that, and was getting 10MB p/s downspeed. Can anyone assist ?

Well, I decided to take advantage of the sales today. I purchased an AGP graphics card ( as my MOBO has no PCI EXPRESS slot ) It's a ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series card, 512MB. I also had to purchase a new power supply which was £30 for a 500W unit. The card was £80, and the Power Supply £30, with the cost of the 1TB drive, that should be around £200. I think I will be happy with that for a while. If I can run this system for another few years, Dual / Quad Core stuff should have come down even more. Thanks for all your help chaps. You've been really good!!!

Ah thanks for that. Bit of a bummer that really. Thanks for all you help, I think my best option is to buy a graphics card, a new TB HD. I can keep windows running on my smaller 160GB HD and use the TB as a slave, couldn't I? I think with 2GB Ram, and good graphics card, that should be more than enough ?

What's OEM ? When I bought my current PC it did have windows XP on it. It was since formatted, and PC World would no re-install XP on the machine. So I bought it myself was £55 or something from Amazon websit over a year ago. Installed it as normal on my current machine. I persume I can install it on a new machine can't I?

DP. Thanks for doing that mate. That's great. If I was wanting to save some costs, I could do without a 1TB drive, maybe have a smaller one and upgrade when I can. I have my original copy of Windows, which I persume I can re install on a new machine ? So that can potentially knock off £150 or so.

DirtyPolo, Thanks for your time. I'd imagine I am able to take some bits from my current system. Which has a newish case, DVD +/- RW drive. Built in card reader. I just need the bsae unit. As I already have a 22" widescreen TFT monitor, and wireless Labtec mouse and keyboard. Which look and work great. If it works out to buy the board, CPU , Fan, power supply and Memory in one go. I have no issues in fitting the Hd, DVD any any graphics and sound cards my self.

Thank you very much. I use my PC for games, music and lots of film watching. My budget would be around £300-£400. I would want a 1TB hard drive, at least 3GB of memory, and a nice graphics card to boot. Suitable for playing demanding 3d games ( GTA - PES - FIFA Etc ) That's about it really, a 5.1 soundcard would be nice as I have a 5.1 speaker set up around my PC.
