  1. My wife and I have used Expedia in the past. Though recently we decided to use Hotels.com to book a hotel for our upcoming trip to Atlanta, Georgia next month. I remember seeing the Expedia commercials on tv all the time growing up in the 00's. It's great that companies like this exist, it's always awesome getting good deals on flights and hotels especially if you travel a lot!

    Reddit

Honestly it was a bit more relaxed than it is now. There were more NSFW subreddits, and a lot less people using it. Still a good number of people were using Reddit in 2013, but it's definitely grown since. There's a good number of controversial subreddits that were removed but were definitely still online when I first joined. There's a infamous incel forum that actually started on Reddit, but once their sub was shut down they moved to their own self hosted Xenforo installation.
  3. First, have you tried resetting your router? If you haven't I would advise you to reset it and see if this fixes the problem. Also make sure to reset your wifi adapter on your PC too if you haven't tried that yet. If you've done this, and you're still getting issues check to make sure your network adapter drivers are up to date or not corrupted. Sometimes updates can be interrupted and cause issues with different drivers. If your drivers are corrupted, you will need to have access to another computer in order to download the drivers. To check to see the network drivers installed on your Windows 11 PC, open up device manager. This will give you a list of all the drivers currently installed for any piece of hardware on your computer. From there on another device you can search Google to get the drivers from the manufacturer's website, download them onto a USB drive and connect the USB to your Windows 11 pc to install the drivers.
  4. I believe the new editing software is called Clipchamp. I've used it for a little bit, however I prefer DaVinci Resolve and honestly it's better than even Windows Movie Maker. I use to use Movie Maker when I first opened my Youtube channel up back in 2008 since I didn't have the money to get Sony Vegas which was the hottest editing software at the time.
  5. Kind of ironic that Firefox was the first browser to implement this feature and now they're removing it. I never really bothered with this feature much, so it doesn't affect me. It's better to use a VPN in today's world if you want to browse the internet privately. Brave already has a built in VPN in their browser, so it makes it pretty easy to browse privately on there.
  6. It's pretty easy to set up dual monitors. I currently only have one monitor, but when I first got my computer and monitor, the monitor came in first so I tested it with my laptop. All I did was plug in the monitor to the HDMI port on my laptop, and Windows easily detected it just fine. I made my monitor the primary screen with the laptop screen secondary. As for Linux, well I haven't tried that out yet. You might need to do a little more work to get dual monitors to work but it shouldn't be too difficult.
  7. It's kind of lame that Microsoft prevents you from uninstalling Edge. Then again, I suppose you could just pretend it doesn't exist and just set another browser to your default one. Still I think it's just another thing people don't like about Windows. Surely if the user doesn't want to use Edge and not have it take up space, they should be able to delete it.
  8. I don't think you can fully trust the AI to give you the proper code to make a site, I've heard of people using AI to help them and they still needed to go in and manually fix some code since it didn't work properly. I think there still needs to be a human checking things out to ensure things are proper.
  9. I haven't paid for VPN, I only use Proton's free VPN services. I have thought about paying for their service, since right now I can only connect to one server and it's still located in my country. That's the downside of using a free one I suppose. I know Youtubers have sponsorships for NordVPN and another one called AtlasVPN but funny enough it merged into Nord back in April. Surfshark is another one I see mention. Brave browser has a built in VPN that I haven't tried yet.

    Reddit

I use Reddit daily! I'm currently close to unlocking a new streak, upvoting/downvoting content for 200 days in a row. I'm still a fan of traditional forums more, and it is sad to see that more people use Reddit for the discussions we're having here. I've been a member of Reddit for 11 years now. Most of the subs I visit are gaming related, and I'm part of subs based around local towns.
  11. I mainly use Facebook to keep in touch with my family. I do have some of my internet friends added, funny enough my parents finally signed up on the platform last year after saying for years they didn't feel comfortable joining. I have a bunch of friends I added for Mafia Wars in the early 10's, I should go through my list and delete a bunch of people because I have over 500 friends lol.
  12. Honestly I don't bother with getting any antivirus software, I think Windows defender works fine these days. Maybe install Malwarebytes along with Windows defender and you should be good to go. I used to use Avast in the past, but I haven't used it in a long time.

    Ubuntu

I'm currently using Lubuntu which is a different version of Ubuntu alongside Windows 11. It's a very easy to use Linux distro, one I highly recommend if you're familiar with Windows and want to use Linux. Though if you do have a lower end computer, Lubuntu would work better. I've used Ubuntu on one of my laptops in the past, prior to reinstalling Windows 10 on it.
  14. Honestly I wouldn't mind some of those conversations be reopened. There's still quite a few hobbyists who use these older operating systems, whether they're using old machines or emulating them. I know there's sub reddits that cover different operating systems, but it couldn't help.
  15. Always go with a legit source whenever you download anything, especially a operating system. There's no telling what kind of viruses these leaks may contain, and they could be incompatible with your hardware. I also always recommend getting Windows keys from legit sources too, because again you never know if it'll work or not!
  16. This just happened to me, I went and ate dinner while I was in the middle of posting over at Forum Promotion. My computer went to sleep after there was no activity, which is normal. I went to get back on my computer, I noticed the light on my keyboard was off. Again it's typical, so I hit enter on the keyboard and my computer had rebooted. I did notice that it's been wanting me to update my system, I'm guessing while my computer was idle Windows decided to install the update. Has Windows ever done this to you? Also I need to get into my computer's bios screen and see why it often will boot into Lubuntu after the computer restarts, I should have the boot options be set to my SSD first, not my USB drive that contains Lubuntu. Thankfully whenever I did boot back into Windows my browser was still up and so was Foobar 2000.
  17. My computer came pre installed with Windows 11. It's cool that Microsoft allows you to upgrade your Windows 10 device for free, back in the day you'd have to purchase a disc for whatever version of Windows you were switching to. I know lots of people crap on Windows 11 but I had more issues with 10 than any other version of Windows and was happy to finally experience 11.
  18. I haven't really seen too many people talk about using Skype, I want to say Discord really killed Skype. My childhood friend and I used to talk on Skype when it was popular but we started talking again a few years ago and used Discord instead. Also I feel like the companies that used Skype now switched to using Microsoft Teams instead.
  19. Shooting pool means he enjoys playing the sport pool. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pool_(cue_sports) As for me, I enjoy rom hacking and have been hacking Sonic for 13 years now. I also enjoy playing video games, and I own a few websites.
  20. I watched a video of a drone trying to deliver someone's food, only for it to drop the food on top of the roof right outside their window. xD I don't really trust drones to deliver my food, I have a bad feeling it could drop the food. I get having drones deliver things when the pandemic was going on, but now I'm indifferent on this.
  21. I wonder if Jim was ever able to figure this out. I use Windows 11 and I use Brave just fine. I only used Duckduckgo once, but it should work fine too. Though one thing I have noticed with Windows 11, things like to save to my Onedrive folders instead of on my local computer which is annoying.
  22. So I have an Elgato capture device as well as a device called a Digitnow! Unfortunately both of these don't work with my Sega Genesis 100% and the Elgato doesn't work properly all since the Genesis outputs in a weird aspect ratio that the device can't properly encode. Plus, the Elgato Capture device works with my other old consoles somewhat, but I can't seem to get OBS to cooperate with the device since it will output video but no audio. The Digitnow!, only seems to record audio from one speaker and it changes depending on if I use my mono Genesis cables or my stereo ones. (I haven't tried it with other consoles.) Right now I can deal with using the Digitnow and just edit the video in DaVinci Resolve to make the mono audio play in both speakers even though I'd rather it be in stereo. Are there any better options?
  23. Do you have an old Android tablet lying around just collecting dust? Are you a gamer who enjoys playing retro games but don't have the means or space to own all those old consoles you used to play growing up? Well why not reuse that tablet to be a emulation machine! I mentioned Android since emulators are much easier to find on Google Play. Most old consoles like the NES, SNES, Sega Genesis should be able to run on any tablet with no issues. You might start to run into issues with 3D consoles like the PS1, it depends on your tablet's specs. Though I'm curious, are there any other good uses for old tablets? I'd like to hear your ideas!
  24. Do you have a PC that has two operating systems? Many people prefer to use Linux over Windows, but still need to use Windows for software that may not work properly on Linux. I know Wine exists, but some programs still rely on Windows or even Mac to work. Anyways, I'm currently dual booting Windows 11 and Lubuntu on my gaming rig. I went with Lubuntu because it's lightweight and I only have flash drives lying around so I wanted to go with a smaller distro. If I get the external SSD that's on my Christmas list I'm probably going to install Ubuntu or another distro on it and then keep Windows installed on the internal SSD on my computer since I know there's programs I use that will not work on Linux. I also recommend dual booting or simply getting a Linux distro for older machines since Windows might not work well on older pcs.
  25. Microsoft Teams seems to be the way most companies communicate with their employees these days. My previous job used it and my current job does as well, but most companies do tend to use Windows as their operating system of choice so I suppose it makes sense. Anyways, I never used Teams from an Administrator's point of view, but I've heard that certain tasks can be a pain to deal with in Teams. Have you ever used Teams in a administrator setting? Or have you simply used it from a user's point of view? I even thought about giving it a go for creating a community, but honestly it's probably best to stick with forums or Discord instead.
