  1. Would I be right in saying that the links are for XP but they should still be usable for Vista? I may be jumping the gun because I haven't opened them up yet....will now though Thanks
  2. Thanks heaps. I'll check out the links and hopefully they will solve my problems.
  3. Thanks again Randy, that link worked for me so I now have the latest updates on my laptop. Just running it now to see if it finds anything. Thanks.
  4. By the way, I have tried a few ethernet cables which work on my other computers direct with a modem. Not using the router at the moment.
  5. Thanks Randy. I'll give that a go. In the meantime... the blue screen tells me: A problem has been detectedand windows has been shut down....etc Technical Info STOP: OxOOOOOO8E (0xC0000005, 0x8F5ACB3A, 0xA00F15F4, 0x00000000) Does this mean anything..obviously it does, just not to me. Thanks again.
  6. The laptop restarts in Safe Mode each time I turn it on. It boots up normally but only lasts a minute before it blue screens me and then I need to start in safe mode. People have said it could be the motherboard, others say it could be a virus from messenger. All different opinions. I will start it up and post the errors I get shortly. Thanks
  7. Yes, I tried that, quite a few times but whatever I do I can't get an internet connection at all on the laptop.
  8. I'm Neil from Sydney Australia. And yes, you can probably tell I am Nicho's Dad... Thanks in advance for solving any probs I may have...and do have!!!
  9. My laptop can't get an internet connection because it has issues. I have been advised to install Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. I download the software on my desktop which can log onto the internet. The installed updates are dated 9 months ago back I can easily click on "Check for Updates" and everything is up to date from there. When I install the program onto my laptop (with no live internet connection) I can easily set up the program, but am stuck with the out of date definitions. Is there a way I can copy the latest definitions from my desktop over to the laptop? Thanks in advance. Neil Sydney, AUS
