  1. Hello all. I gave Virgin a call Friday lunch time, after 35 minutes on the phone to the senior engineer he suspected it was my computers fault. When I said it did it on my old computer and my laptop he decided to send an engineer to the house. Suprisingly 3 hours later the engineer was at my door. He replaced my old modem: http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g130/tommyd1258/Home310510.jpg?t=1264269782 *Picture from google. He replaced it with a new Virgin modem. While he was here he looked at our TV which was apprently loose so we now have a better TV picture too. This is my new speed test: http://www.speedtest.net/result/692293852.png Clearly I must have the M 10mb package. Thanks for all your help. :) David.
  2. http://www.speedtest.net/result/690089199.png That is todays speed test. I think we need to have a word with virgin about getting a new router. I might enquire about upgrading our speed too.
  3. What i will put out there is that the modem i currently have is around 8-9 years old. We had it installed by NTL Home when broadband first became popular. Do you think that might be the problem?
  4. They say we are paying for the M package which is 2MB i believe. I've never had such a slow connection problem before though. Im not aware of that policy.
  5. http://www.speedtest.net/result/689016631.png Thats what it is as of now, i did one of those tests earlier, it was at 0.4 download speed then. I guess it varies between peak times.
  6. http://www.speedtest.net/result/689004446.png Thats pretty bad tbh.
  7. Not sure whether this should be under "Windows XP" or not. I've just bought a new custom build Windows XP computer. 4GB RAM, 3GHz dual core processors etc. Problem is the internet runs really slowly, takes ages to load websites, yet programs on my computer load in seconds. Just to confirm this is definantly a problem with the internet and its for virgin to sort? Thanks in advance.
  8. Yeh, well I bought this laptop only 6 weeks ago, and already I'm wondering to myself whether it was a bad choice. It only has a memory card slot not an Expresscard slot. :( I could look into a part exchange, just to see what they will give me for it, maybe in a few months or so. I'll have a quick look at USB Sounds cards, see if theres anything that catches my eye. Thanks.

  11. Thanks for the reply. It definantly wont fit, and the sort of money needed to put into that adaptor for a gamble isnt worth it. Ive been looking at other USB Sound cards, Im not sure really what to look for, This audigy 2ZS is a great piece of kit, Is there anything else you could recommend? Thanks.

  14. Thats the sort of thing ive been looking for, not really in my price range though, the question is whether it would reconise a sound card. :P Ill wait to see if Plastic Nev replies later. Thanks for your help so far.
