I have tried both those methods now (changing IP address and selecting automatic) but none have worked. i'm still stuck. It connects and disconnects but I just can't get it to; a) stay connected b) when it quickly connects, to load up a web page..... grrr.............

Hi there, I hope you can help. My dad changed our ISP just before xmas (to Tiscali), who then gave him a new router. We have 3 pcs in the house ; Dads desktops (main PC), a laptop and my own desktop. The main PC connects to the router via a wire. The laptop connects wirelessley and didnt have any problems being set up. My desktop will not connect. It used to work fine when we were with our old provider so i didnt think the USB adapter i had would be the problem (belkin), but having spent months trying to fix it I bought a new one (not a name brand.can remember what is called off top of my head) just to see if that were the problem. but its not changed things. The problem is both USB adapters would connect to the net and disconnect within 10-15 seconds. I never had a problem with the old ISP so i dont think its interferance from mobiles etc. I copied the ISP address from the main PC as the one assigned to my pc seems to have got erased in all the faffing i have done with it. Could this be the problem? its 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.1 (defult gateway). Help! its driving my mad! I run on windows XP and have tried the 'resolve internet connections' tab and all wizards i can think of. The pc seems to want to connect but can mangage to keep it connects. HELP!!!

Hi there, I have tried uninstalling my IE 8 but it doesn't seem to help. I still can't connect to the internet. I've tried setting everything to find automatic settings but that not helping either. Any ideas?

Hi there, I really hope you can all help me. I am going out of my mind with this! My dad recently changed our internet connection to Tiscali, as its cheaper. Which is great for him, being the one paying the bills, but not me as i am now unable to connect to the net. Dad has a main pc, which has the router connected, and a laptop which connects wirelessley to the network. He connects fine on both and its quick enough. I am using a Belkin G+ to connect wirelessley. I am also running Xp, if this makes a difference. My net connections are exactly the same as my dads, so im not sure if that helps or where the problem lies. The router is a sagem. I have managed after many hours, to connect mine to the net. However, the icon says im connected and there is data being sent and received, but every time I put in a web address to Internet Explorer V8 it says "page connot be displayed" or " you are working offline". I have of course made myself as working online, but this doesn't change things. Basically it seems to be connected but my explorer is having a problem. Help!!! Thanks, Loopyloz_uk
