veiwsonic q191wb Thanks for the "view" , all that is apparent through a visual was that one capacitor nothing else and even that was not "obvious"unless your aware of the physical trates of a cap. failure , in this case slightly domed top. Used a soldering wick this went "ticketty - boo " with positive results. I'm only using a 25 watt soldering pencil and not staying on components to long . Did resolder some frosted soldering joints , traced circiut with a meter and continuity is all good. Suggetions? :confused:

hi I was just given a viewsonic optiquest q191wb monitor that has gone down - black out. Before doing some research I took it upon myself and dove right in looking for obvious electronics failure and dissasembled the monitor right down to backlights after reassembling and further research it became obvious that it was a power board problem which I inspected and found to have a bad 16v 1000microfared capacitor that had died. I replaced it with an identical rated one fired it up and "voila " lights ! unfortunately after firing it up the display is composed entirely of vertical colored lines . These lines will move when any of the menu or up down controls are used suggesting to me that they are functioning and a signal is being sent up to the display . Thinking (hoping ) that this was due to a lack of drivers , installation software or resolution settings I updated , acquired &installed software and set resolution for 1440 x 900 as a suggested requirement all to end up with the same results . Silly me ( should have made a note ) I believe that when I reassembled the unit that I placed the screens back in there appropriate order however I can't confirm this . Can screen placement order effect the display in this fashion ? If not what is the possible cause ? Can someone HHHHEEEELLLPPP!!! me out . Thanks everyone . :confused:
