Tried to find the cd by lookin in 'My computer' but it doesnt even know there is a cd in there... Except if i put a piccy cd in

My first post..... really not great on pc's but i can use em.. BUT my pc at home has just started to NOT open / recognise any CD roms. It will however open photo cd's i have. I got O2 broadband and with it came a cd rom. I put it in and nothing... I then tried the driver for my printer (that i have previously installed) and it did not recognise that.. i tried again with MP3 cd rom and the same again.. Then i put in a picture cd and 'Autoplay' fired up and it opened fine. I have tried the cd roms at work and they are fine.... Any ideas experts? Thank you
