  1. Okay i had a computer system amd 3500+ and wanted to upgrade, Stripped out m/b cpu and memory and bought the new m/b mem and cpu then installed it into my old tower case. I fitted it as i have done to all my computers and it power up okay and everything works, untill i try to load any kind of windows. Win xp home installs until you get to just before the desktop (nearly 100% finished) then freezes and vista(any edition) loads the setup files then takes about 30 min to get to extracting files after that i get a empty vista background then it freezes. i can get xp to work without the dvd drive plugged in or in safe mode with it plugged in, (replaced with several dvd drives with same effect). My old 3500+ worked fine and the dvd drive works fine on other computers also. all suspected hardware have been tested in other machines and seem to work fine hope this helps
  2. Yes apart from my origional dvd drive and psu all the other harware in the case is diconnected
  3. hi the shop has changed the memory, dunno about the voltages etc , also tried loading on ide and sata drive and ide and sata hdd's I cant think of anything as the shop build the same systems every day with what i bought and they have no problems. The m/b was replaced to another machine and worked as with the cpu, memory, drives, hdd, cables, psu, but all placed together somthing must conflict and the computer shop will not repace under warrenty untill the find a faulty part
  4. The computer shop is a good shop best in town infact. The parts were bought for to upgrade to a higher spec computer The os i tried to install are all legit cd/dvd's of xp home , vista home premium 32 bit and 64 bit. The computer repair shop also tried their copys. all my os cd/dvd's work and install fine on my other systems hope this helps somehow
  5. First i would like to say hi and this is the first time i have needed any help on any forum but i am tottaly stuck. I bought a new motherboard, cpu, memory a few weeks ago and built it up i tried to install vista 64bit and it took ages to load to the extracting files bit and then froze, the same happened with vista 32 bit. I then tried to put on xp 32bit and it loaded all the way up until just before the desktop came on then froze. xp would however start in safe mode. i removed all hardware from the system and the same, however when i remove the dvd drive windows xp wil start normally, tried a few different drives and the same still happens, I ran hirens diognostic cd and found no problems whatsoever and now the shop has it and they cannot figure it out either, they have repaced every component with no luck. Can anyone help please. motherboard: asrock k10n78 cpu: amd phenon 9650 x4 quad processor 4gig kingston memory 500w psu dvd/rw d/l :confused:
