  1. thank you for the posts and understand the issue, i will continue to use the other site and see how i progress with the issue. thank you for your valued time.
  2. thanks for the quick reply, after viewing all links im still no better off. pressing f11 does nothing to start a boot menu and f10 just brings up bios menu, on start/allprograms there is nothing there to do with creating a recovery cd. also avery odd thing is that the screen freezes unless ikeep my finger pressed on the touch pad for the pointer (mouse) im having to doit now otherwise i cannot type or doanything.
  3. Hi, Back again to trouble you with more questions: My GF has a HP pavillion dv4000 laptop that is running very bad, im using it now and even trying to type this is very difficult and slow, im looking to fully reboot the laptop to factory shipping but am aware that a cd was supplied but cannot be found. Is there a way of rebooting the laptop without a boot cd? Any help is greatly appreciated thank you http://www.helpwithpcs.com/tech-support-forum/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif
  4. Thank you I think the HT setting is ok now. I enabled it and it seems to have saved. Sigmatel audio seems to be ok it has worked fine today. The F1 is the issue so ill contact Dell. Well ill leave you to get on and help other users. Thank you for your full time and effort on this.
  5. I have a warranty with Dell but only for hardware. If a fault is not found with hardware then I get a big bill  Service tag CJZCJ2J BIOS A04 I have checked the Dell site and re downloaded BIOS A04 and flashed but still it asks for F1 The problem is I have a wireless keyboard and mouse and while in the boot menu my keyboard or mouse wont work. I have brought home from work a wired keyboard just to press F1 then i can use my wireless one to log in  it works fine after I press F1 with the wireless one. I have followed steps above but no joy. I am very sorry for driving you nuts with all this
  6. No The issues have just started. I have not altered the pc apart from what this and the previous forums told me to to. Im very trusting in you guys ;) Well it was telling me to press F1 to continue after I deleted the error logs but thought the reboot would solve it. I will enable HT and see if it stays that way Also my sigmatel audio will not stay enabled as default. When I restart i have to re enable sigmatel audio from USBaudio codec. I can live with this but again no idea what is happening
  7. Ok not entirely sorted yet On turning the pc on I now get a black screen showing system information and says "floppy diskette seek failure Press F1 to continue F2 to enter boot mode" Is this a simple fix to alter as I have looked in the boot menu and disabled floppy disk as i dont have one but no difference. Also My CPU has HT disabled as default surely would it not perform better with HT enabled? Thank you again
  8. All up and running :) Just downloaded macafee full suite and starting to install some programs. The CPU usage is now idling at 0% so looks like whatever it was has now gone. Thank you for all your help Tootech and other users now im going to spend the weekend updating my system and installing programs.
  9. Thanks, The PC does not have this tool. I have gone to the location but its not there. Oh well, Im going to reboot now so ill let you know how I get on either by using the pc or my phone. Its a shame we could not locate the fault but perhaps this is the only way to cure it? Cheers
  10. Ok, Im sure i done the steps right. Disabled event log and restart I created a new folder called temp in the C:\windows\System32\Config. and moved all the .evt files into it re enabled event log and restarted the pc but no difference So firstly have i done this correcty? Second do you want screenshots? Thirdly I have a leaflet that was supplied with the pc about rebooting. It says to use a program called Dell pc restore and norton ghost. I cannot find this on my pc. So if i press ctrl and f11 on boot what am i going to expect? Will this simply restore to factory settings including windows xp? Are there steps i need to follow? I now dont want to stuff the pc altogether so any information I gather now is bettet than being stuck. I am very grateful for your help Tootech and other users.
  11. Ok, I shall wait for now. Ill back up files needed by other users and on saturday ill log back on to follow the remaining steps. I really do appreciate you expert help and guidance. Regardless on what the outcome of all this is i shall be makimg a donation so do you fight over this or is there a general area donations are kept? Ill post back on Saturday Thank you again

  14. pc died! I am now on my win mobile as my pc will no longer work. I could not find anything out of ordinary on event viewer so i deleted the logs and restarted i did save the logs just incase but upon restart it starts ok and begins to load windows but does not get to login screen. at the moment its turned on but doingg nothing just a blank screen. i have manually turned it off with no joy. any ideas? thanks
  15. http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/d547af430fb4308e608c0615eb8005db2g.jpg Last screnshot network cable unplugged no macafee windows security running. it is very smooth compared to before but I now have nothing left to do apart from a reboot so not very practical at all. nothing but warnings from windows about security. I am going to wait before doing the reboot as there are some files my girlfriend needs to backup and she is not here till friday. If i touch them ill get my head cut ff Any more info until then would be greatly appreciated, also if you want to dig further to try to find the fault im happy to proceed.
