  1. Hey guys now im not sure if this is even a hardware problem. but i thought id come here to make sure because im quite paranoid Last night i couldnt sleep. so i woke up about 3 times. each time i woke up, my pc had shutdown by itself and crashed I knew it was shutdown by itself because when turning it back on. i got the windows was not shut down correctly message Now. to turn the pc on. i had to go to the back, pull out the PSU Cable. switch the switch to off, then plug it back in, and switch the switch to on. then hit the pc power button to get it to boot up Now this is usually what would happen if there was a powersurge. or the power went out or a storm But i dont remember a storm last night. just abit of wind
  2. Hey guys Ok basically, this has never happened before but every now and then recently ill be watching a small movie and the movie will freeze for up to 3 seconds and ill hear a strange whistle sound from the pc, and the lag will go away and the movie continue's I have 2 hard disks Seagate 500GB Western Digital 500GB The western digital lately has felt quite clunky and constantly files are getting to 5-10% fragments I left windows for abit to play with linux on it and never had an issue, but i reinstalled windows 7 a phew nights ago And then this problem started, i also woke up a phew nights ago and all my fans werent running properly while the pc was in sleep mode and clunking When i run the pc on the seagate which has ubuntu 11.04 on it, i get no lag, nor do i get any problems. everythings smooth and peaceful and i havnt seen a spec of these issues Ive noticed issues ever since i put windows 7 back on the western digital hard disk and choppyness So the only thing i can think of is either windows is causing a problem or my western digital is dying Im preying its not the PSU or graphics card, there tough to replace Edit: at this point im running a quick Western digital SMART hard disk test, no errors reported, but the hard drive is as loud as my speakers, i can hear it from a phew feet away clickering

Join Date: Jan 2009 Posts: 8 PC Experience: Some Experience Bad Company 2 Issue hey guys ok first it started with a software problem explained in this link http://www.gotgames.com.au/forums/so...r-issue-89148/ i had trouble getting drives for my new 5670 GFX Card So i finally got some drivers, i dont even know if there the correct ones. and all my games seem extremely smooth with no issues what so ever Except for Bad Company 2 with bad company 2, my old gfx card the 4670 ran fine. after upgrading to the 5670, and adding drivers i get this weird 1 minute lag spike every time i first enter a game, then it goes away its strange My old card - HD 4670 - upgraded to a 5670 1GB My PC Specs 2.6 Duel core E5300 Kingston 4GB DDR2 800Mhz ram 500GB Seagate Barracuda HDD P45 Neo-F MSI motherboard 550W PSU Attatched screenshot of GPU-Z and my 5670 Specifications - feels wrong. the texture and pixel fillrates should be higher http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/4476/gpuzsafe.jpg i also noticed on the main ATi website, theres drivers for every specific card but the 5600 series cards and in alot of peoples GPU-Z screenshots, the card shows up as 5670 in the details of gpu-z accept mine with over 10 pixel fillrate and over 100 texture fill rate, for example http://www.geeks3d.com/public/jegx/200912/radeon_hd_5670_gpuz.jpg i have a feeling my processor might be bottlenecking the card but im not sure
  4. Hey guys ( please dont say go buy a new monitor. lol its all ive got ) Hey all. im still stuck due to money and living issues with an old school CRT BenQ V772 monitor I recently installed windows 7 64bit, it was time to upgrade. unfortantly. even with all drivers properly installed. my monitor has alot of missing resolutions, such as 1174x762 i think it is. and wont show up in hardware lists as "benq v772", it shows up as "Generic PnP Monitor", and ive tried installing drivers and everything, unfortantly theres only XP Drivers out there and windows 7 wont install them Heeeelp

  9. Hey all ok my question goes onto graphical drivers, first here's my pc spec's to help those answering 2GB DDR 400Mhz ram 1GB sticks each slot 3.0Ghz intel P4 Processor with hyperthreading P4VP-MX Asustek motherboard rev 1.xx AGP slot with max 4x AGP 2.0 ATi X1650 512MB DDR2 128Bit GFX Card 350watt PSU Monitor, max refresh rate 85Hertz at 1024x768 Drivers = Latest Omega ATI Drivers Bios settings: graphical AGP = 256 AGP speed set to 4x and 1 in windows Main graphic slot set to AGP instead of PCI Ok my question is: what would be the best custom setting's in my drivers, the 3D area, monitor etc to get the best possable perfomance out of my card in game's, even game's like Counter-strike 1.6 are been a little choppy and jumping in fps, i had a much older pc than this at one point which did 100FPS straight in cs 1.6 ATM my drivers are set with everything automatically to perfermonce and v-sync is turned off from what i understand with old games this setup should rip the fps apart Thankyou for your help. im just curious, were to set the bar's, what to have on and off etc
  10. Hey all. Ok recently i purchased a Prescott Intel Pentium 4 3.0Ghz Hyperthreading processor. ive read up alot of review's it seem's hyperthreading on actually reduces fps in games heavily in some points. i have hyperthreading enabled ofcourse. it defaulted it when i put in the processor, ive also flashed the bios to the latest version My issue is, i can turn off hyperthreading, but i cant modify the clock speed of the processor. with hyperthreading off it wont go up to 3.0Ghz the clock speed stay's at 1504.25Mhz, which is what it is with hyperthreading enabled on both "processors" im curious how i can safely turn off hyperthreading and up the clock speed to the right speed My crappy rig: Asustek P4VP-MX Motherboard rev 1.xx 2GB DDR PC3200 400Mhz ram ATi X1650 512MB DDR2 GFX Card AGP 80GB HDD P4 HT 3.0Ghz Processor here's a screenshot of the processor property's with CPU-Z http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/1228/processorview.jpg
