  1. Hi, I have a dell desktop that I got about a year ago. Today I tried to turn the PC on and was not able to. Nothing happens when I push the power button and the PC makes a clicking noise. I opened the front over. The clicking noise is coming from the power supply. Is the power supply dead?
  2. Thanks for writing back. I am not sure if I understand your question. But I will give you some more info. I have my own laptop that has Windows 7. The Win2K is a desktop at my job. The PC's there are not on a domain. The laptop & desktop are both in the same workgroup. I am connecting to internet on both machines via an ethernet cable. Usually when I try to connect to the Win2K machine, I enter the user name and I able to connect to the machine.
  3. Hi, I have an Windows 7 laptop. I am tyrying to connect to a Windows 2000 machine. I go to Start and then type in the PC name of the Windows 2000 machine. First it would ask me for a user name. Then it would ask me for a password. My laptop has no password. The last few times that I tried to connect to the PC, it only asks me for my password. When I connect my PC to an XP machine, it does not asks a user name/password. What can I do so it doesnt ask for a user name/password when I try to connect to the Windows 2000 PC. And this PC is not listed under Network. So the only I can connect to this PC is by going to Start and then entering the PC name.
  4. Now the front ports does not work at. I connected a printer, mouse & keyboard to both ports and nothing happened
  5. Yes I tried Maynard's FixIt from the link. It did not fix the problem. I click on the link and it talks about CD/DVD drive. I ran the FixIT and all it talked about what the CD/DVD drive. Any more ideas? The PC is an Acer Veriton M2610. Someone was saying that the front ports might have enough power for the flash drive. Is this possible?
  6. Thanks for everyon for writing back. The only other external USB device that I have is an IPOD. And the front ports didnt recognize that either.
  7. I connected 2 different printers to both front ports and I was able to print. I have tried about 5 flash drives. And Windows doesn't detect any of them.
  8. I hooked up my flash drive to the port behind the PC and Windows detected it. But if I hook it up to the ports in the front, Windows wont detect the flash drive. Any fix for this?
  9. Hi, I have a PC with XP. When I connect my flash drive to it, nothing happens. I went to the registry and the value is set to 3. I went to computer management and all I see is the hard drives. There is nothing under removeable storage. I have another PC with 2000. This PC detects my flash drive. Any ideas?
  10. We ran malware bytes and it found 14 viruses. We also ran CC cleaner and deleted some stuff. Then I found the HP Recovery software via Start>Programs. I restarted the PC and it took me to the same screen that F11 took me. I chose restore to factory settings and this time it worked. Thank you to everyone for responding.
  11. Hi, I am trying to restore my friends desktop. He has an HP desktop with XP. I press F11 during bootup. I then chose the option to restore to factory settings. I click on Yes. And then less than a minute later, it says restore is done, to make sure there is no CD in the CD drive & to restart the PC. I restart the PC and logged in. The restore didn't work. The 1st time I had a CD in the drive. The 2nd time, I didn't have a CD & the restore still didn't work. I tried System Restore and the earliest I can go back in September 1. Could the hard drive have a virus that would prevent me from restoring to factory settings? My friend is going to run Malwarebytes tonight. He ran MCfee and it said it found 1 threat. When I clicked on fix it took me to website where I have to pay to upgarde Mcafee. Please help us.
  12. Yeah its ML-2165W/XAA. Thanks for your help.
  13. Sorry. I meant to say its a 2165W.
  14. I was able to connect to a shared Samsung 2160 with my Windows 7 laptop 2 weeks ago at work. I haven't been able to connect to this printer since last week. When I try to print, nothing happens. I try to connect to another shared Samsung 2160. It looks like its going to connect. And then it says that the path is wrong. I tried to connect to PC by entering the PC name in the Run box. Says the path is wrong. I am still able to connect to these printers via desktop. My laptop & desktop where the printer is plugged both have Workgroup as the workgroup name. I have Norton Security. It found 50 viruses last week which I cleaned. And I am connected to the internet when I try to connect to these shared printers. I have some ideas. Like changing the workgroup name of the laptop. Trying to connect by creating a local port. Installing the drivers and then trying to connect. Anyone else has anymore ideas?
  15. Sorry for the late response. I'm all set. Thanks.
