  1. Problem solved! I thought that BitDefender was off as it wasn't in the tray, but it turns out that there was still parts of it in place. It wasn't giving an error message when trying to register a program, but would still block them from registering. I restarted BitDefender, but used the "disable for 30 minutes" function. I then installed the malware removal software and Norton Ghost without any problem. Thanks for your help! Serge
  2. I'm getting an error on system restore: "System restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed. Details: Access is denied. (0x80070005)" Looks like all my error messages point to not being allowed access to some critical area of the Registry... Any thoughts? Serge
  3. I changed the file name to mb.exe and reran the installation and I still get the same message. Any way to test if it is registry corruption? Thanks, Serge
  4. This is the second time this problem happens to me today. First when I re-installed Norton Ghost (gave error 1306 and similar message as below), and just now when I tried to install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Here is the detailed error message: Error writing to registry key: HEKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTEWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce RegSetValueEx failed; code 5. Access is denied Click Retry to try again, ignore to proceed anyway, or abort to cancel. Operating system: Vista Home Premium Computer: Sony Vaio VGN-FZ470E Antivirus: BitDefender Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks, Serge
