  2. Hi all, My brother in law has a funny problem with his keyboard. Some of the keys seem to be in the wrong places,,, eg, when he presses @, it comes out as "", and when he presses the 2 key in upper case he then gets @. It appears that his keyboard is back to front, i have not come across this before so any help gratefully recieved, cheers stupo
  3. Hi all, I have an M2N-VM DVI motherboard by Asus, currently running a AMD 64 X2 Dual core, 4800+ 2.5 mhz. My question is,,,, what would be my best upgrade, currently available for this board, would i be able to consider quad core options, cheers in advance for any replies, stupo.
  4. Completed Task Hi All, It would seem that my task is now complete. Many thanks to everyone who has supplied the info to help me along the way. cheers Paul (stupo)

  7. Welcome Hi Paula, welcome to the forum, The best place to be for information, supplied by people with real "PASSION" to all things connected to computing. I have not been a member long myself, but am already completely satisfied with the wealth of information available and the skills of the people concerned in providing the Answers> BE patient and avoid the temptation to "Jump in" check with the "FAMILY" first!! good luck ,, Paul (stupo)
  8. All sorted Hi All, firstly thanks for ALL the answers supplied above. I have managed to do what i set out to do, drive fitted with adapter mentioned, taken/transfered all the stuff i wanted, with No hastle. While here can i, ask another question ? (sort of related), or do i have to end this thread, satisfied and start a new thread????? If the latter, thanks for all your help, as i consider this enquiry completed. cheers (stupo)
  9. Thanks Thanks Match, off to try it now, i will post later with the results, cheers again to all Stupo.
  10. Converter/adapter Hi All, I have got 1 of those connectors,(as mentioned above by Plasticnev) 1 more quick question. I have set the drive to slave on the jumpers, i am ready to put it in. From what i read above, i should be confident that my machine will start as normal (vista boot) and the new/old drive will show up in my computer. From there, i will be able to extract all i want and format the drive. As the drive contains a pre-installed copy of windows, would it be better if i just deleted everything else after transfer, then put the drive back in old pc to run as a spare machine ?? Would this work?? Thanks in advance paul .(stupo)

  13. reply Hi Match, i believe my settings are as follows; CL= 5-5-5-15 is that what your after????? also the ram i have says 1.8v on it, does that mean i am not supposed to up the voltage?? hope the above helps ?? cheers paul (stupo). ps, thanks for the swift reply.
  14. still trying without sucess Hi all, I am still having problems with the above enquiry (4GB will work, but 8GB wont).. I have checked that all 4 sticks are ok (all tried in system 2 at a time, all combinations). Been to web site for motherboard, details, supported ram etc etc etc. Been to corsair,(think i put crucial in previous post?) the ram i have is recommended for upgrade in the search tool thingy?? I have been back to the bios again and put the voltage setting back to auto (i had raised it to 1.85v), tried all the sticks again and any 2 will work but not 4. can anyone give me a couple of more ideas to try ??????????? cheers stupo.
  15. skype microphone Hi elizabetharcher, go to your skype home page, click on tools at top of page, then click options, then audio settings, check here that your microphone is recognised/activated. I have skype and had the same problem, I had to do a little tweaking in the menus mentioned above, to get my headset microphone to work, as my built in microphone on my webcam and also my pc speakers seemed to be causing conflicts. If you were to pm me your skype name, i could perhaps call you to try and help.. Hope this helps, Cheers Paul (stupo)
