Okay, I downloaded it , showed At the end, make sure a check mark is placed next to: Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware created a shortcut on the desktop and they were both checked, so I clicked Finish. A shortcut was created on the desktop but nothing ever came up for me to select Perform Full scan. SO, went to Malwarebytes Support , searched thru FAQ, renamed tried to open from shortcut, nothing happened, tried to go thru programs files folder for the Malware software, could not open, put in a request #7869 awaiting answer.

Sorry, I had searched but found with your post to 1311, and after I downloaded from Step 2 #3 the double clicked it too over 24 minutes and nothing happened so I closed and went to bed - going to start again today I will advise. Thanks, BB

Does the set up for Malwarebytes take a long time, I followed Scott's instructions and when I get to #3 in Step 2 it seems to not be doing anything?
-
Thanks, I have searched and couldn't find it - this is getting to be a real "job".

USB won't work No, still no working USB ports I tried a cruzer micro 1.0 GB by SanDisk which I have embroidery files stored and have used previously but when it is plugged into any of the (4) USB ports after trying the suggested uninstall, restart to allow windows to reinstall - which it did or appears to have done- shows new hardware found at MY Computer under Devices with removable storage as "U3 System (f:) but it will not open to show any files. Nor does the U3 icon appear in the taskbar and when I try to run the launchU3.exe nothing happens, however, all the files appear when I open or explore the U3. SO I don't understand if the USB port recognizes why I can't get it to work. Under Start, control panel, system ,Toshiba,Disk Drivers, Scan Disk U3 Cruzer Micro USB Device when right click to update driver (no better match found) when scan for hardware changes - goes back to Scan Disk U3 Cruzer Micro USB Device and when going into the troubleshooting I don 't know what Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) means. Not sure if the is important or not but under Device Manager there was MTP Device and I don't know what that is either but it is no longer there. Still trying to get these to work, getting no help from Toshiba nor Microsoft and don't know what caused the problem. But I tried a System Restor again last night and it never completed so I closed/cancelled this morning after waiting all night.

Thanks, RandyL. I have done the Registry First Aid before with no problems but guess the worm might have had something to do with my problem this time. However, I am going to try to uninstall al the USB ports again and reboot and see/pray that helps to correct. Thank you, BB

Thanks, I did try this but not since I have resolved the issues with the virus/bugs - finally had to call Microsoft help since couldn't get any of the suggestions to work - computer kept freezing had a worm but is fixed now thank goodness. So will try to uninstall all USB again reboot and see what happens. Appreciate your suggestions hope this works.BB

USB problems Thanks Match and RandyL, Yes, RandyL, Registery First Aid scanned and also fixed. But I couldn't get the computer to stay on (kept freezing up) long enough to run the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool April 2009 (would scan for over 2 hrs then stop and I had to power off due to freeze) I tried that 3 times. Kept getting popup from System Security Firewall Alert that Internet Explorer Internet Browser infected with worm, Lsas.Blaster.Keyloger - trying to send credit card details to a remote host via Internet Browser Internet Explorer but my antivirus software -AVG- kept blocking. So I tried to run thru Windows Live the One Care Safety Scanner - it too stopped after running over 3 hrs and computer was again frozen. Then I called 1-866-PC Safety and the tech walked me thru the steps to take off the virus/trojans whatever and now computer is running fine. However, the tech could not help me with the USB issue - and it still does not work. I thought it might after restarting computer since the virus issue had been resolved, but they do not work. Still get the ping sound Found New Hardware can't get the Add Hardware Wizard to add as Plug and Play and Device Manager shows under Toshiba that the Disk Drive Brother USB Ram Disk USB Device is working properly. So I am wondering if the drives are faulty - but could all for be? I tried to contact someone at the Toshiba forum yesterday for help but haven't received a reply. Any other suggestions? Thanks, Beverly

OH Match, an I am glad you made the changes to make it easier - maybe someone can help me.BB

USB problems reply Nothing that I am aware of - I did a check for errors with Registry First Aid on Tuesday night because I kept getting kicked off the internet so thought that might help it did not still getting kicked off today. I have tried to do a system restore today but after selecting a prior date (Feb 24,09) and during the restoration System Restore is supposed to shut down windows and after it is complete Windows restarts using the settings from the date and time but the Confirm Retore Point Selection screen never goes away. I am at my wits end - don't know what to o. Thanks, BB

I have searched other threads and not found a solution to my problem. I did try Article ID 817900 from Microsoft Help an support - did ll three methods and the Fix IT for ME none of which corrected the problem. Here is what 's happened: I connect from the port of my Brother PR600 embroidery machine to my laptop via USB on any of the four ports on the Toshiba Satellite A105 Usually when plugged in a bing sounds denoting new hardware found and a window appears at the task bar on bottom of screen stating a removable disk E is available. Nothing on Device Manager shows a problem -shows device working properly. and in Device Manager under Disk Drives the Brother USB Ram ZDisk USB Device Properties shows Device type as Disk Drive Mfg Std dis drive and location 0. and under the driver tab shows Microsoft date 7-1-2001 Version 5.1.2535.0 Digital Microsoft Windows Publisher Signer and when tried searching for Hardware update the wizard says cannot continue - could not find a better match for your hardware than you have currently installed and there is no Rollback Driver . This device worked on the laptop until yesterday and works fine on my desktop computer. Any suggestions how to resolve? Thanks, BB

My name is Beverly, I am disabled and live in the USA. I am a beginner with computers and know so very little, however, I rely on my laptop to download embroidery designs to enjoy my hobby. I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S2101 System Unit model #PSAA5U-01300Q and Windows XP Home Version. And we also have a desktop computer V2Premier that also runs indows XP Home Version. They are connected to the internet via bellsouth DSL and are connected wia a network group- which I know very little about - it was set up by the gentleman that works on computers at the church camp where my husband was Asst. Director before he retired to get back into coaching parttime.
