reet, I have sorted the hard drive thing out, and i inserted the xp disc and it said "press any key to boot from CD" so i did that and went through loads of setup, then it copied the files to hard drive, then rebooted, then i have been told not to "press any key to boot from cd" on the secind time, and its saying "error reading operating system" please help. Reeet, I have sorted this problem now. i have sorted it so that the motherboard is reading the hard drive correctly, im just gonna try and install Xp now, :) I will keep you on update, lol :)

Its an old computer btw. And the brand I can read is System Works, I got this pc given, by a friend, as he got a new one, and it used to work, i just dont understand how it is reading it as secondary but wont read primaryt :@

New problem. I have installedmy other empty hard drive. I then went into BIOS and it says IDE hard drive auto detection. When I choos this it says primary master, and finds nothing, then primary slav, nothin again, then secondary master and it finds the hard drive. And the jumper is set correctly, anyiideas please Thanks Adam :)

I have a brand new hard drive, here. Which I got a few months back. I am going to try that out. lol. And also, which format would you recommend formating to e.g. NTFS, Cheers Adam

Should I need any sort of driver for the motherboard? The first thing that started all this was, I tryed installing Windows XP, and It wiped the hard drive. And inside the compter on the motherboard, is it the black or white IDE that comes from the motherboard for hard drives or is that for cd drives/ flopy? Many thanks. Adam

Well... Heres my new problem, The computer is not recognizing the hard drive as being inserted. And i have been told that I need to get the motherboard driver... Now that I know the motherboard is Chaintech 6BTML. Does anyone know where I could get that and how I would install it. Many thanks Adam

Hi, I need to find out my pcs motherboard manufacturer? All i can see on the motherboard is AGP and Year 2000 Compliant. I can not get the pc to boot up so cannot use software that shows spec. Please HElp. Many thanks in advance Adam

nope, this says that when i right click it should say sharing. But my hard drive or any folders do not have the option to click sharing. Hmmmm...

Hi, Well... I have a Windows 2000 pro desktop pc, and I have a Acer 3003WLM laptop with Windows Xp Pro. I have my 500gb external hard drive plugged into my desktop and I would like to set up a connection wirelessly so that I can access my external hard drive from the laptop. They both have wireless that works by my netgear router and they both connect fine and get the internet. i would really like to be able to do this, Many Thanks in Advance. Adam
