Hi, I have bought a HP laptop ( dare I say it, from a boot sale ). I was shown it working although windows was playing up a bit. I decided to format the drive and install my own Windows XP . When I come to install it says I cannot go on unless I have the admin password. Neither myself or the man I bought it off know the password. Can I install windows at all or is it going in the dustbin.

Internet Cut off I have tried using a wireless conection, but it is still the same. I am fairly sure it is not a virus as I have only just reinstalled the whole system, also I have run antivirus software that has found nothing. I have two hard drives both run different windows xp, and this problem happens on both systems:confused: My wife and I are on the same router,

My internet connection keeps stopping working after 5mins or so. If I restart my computer will work again for another 5mins or so and stop again. It says the server cannot be found and try again, sometimes that works but most times the internet goes off alltogether,also my emails..:( I am using an ethernet cable. My wife is using wireless and hers does not go off.:mad:

I never managed to retrieve my files, but I did manage to change to NTFS and format the drive by useing Partition Magic.

Hi, I have 2 internal hard drives both are ntfs, I have an external hard drive I use for back up etc, this drive worked fine, then it stopped letting me use it, saying that it is HPFS files. How can I get all the files off this disc. :confused:
