*speechless* -
thank you everyone for answering my questions. I don't have enough money right now to upgrade both the psu and the graphics card. I think I will wait a bit longer, save up more money, and build myself a new computer. After this thread, i found out that building a custom pc is probably better suited for my needs than a "name brand" computer. Once again thank you very much for the help. If I have any future problems I will definitely come on this forum again!:D

Yea, my drivers are updated, I just checked. I don't think I have more than one stick of ram, but how do I check?Also, my comp just crashed again. when I viewed the problem in windows logs under system this was the detail of the crash, don't know if this helps. + System - Provider [ Name] EventLog - EventID 6008 [ Qualifiers] 32768 Level 2 Task 0 Keywords 0x80000000000000 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2009-05-30T03:44:10.000Z EventRecordID 315314 Channel System Computer WooFamily Security - EventData 8:42:30 PM 5/29/2009 93 D907050005001D0014002A001E009802D907050006001E0003002A001E0098023C0000003C000000000000000000000000000000000000000100000000000000 Binary data: In Words 0000: 000507D9 001D0005 002A0014 0298001E 0008: 000507D9 001E0006 002A0003 0298001E 0010: 0000003C 0000003C 00000000 00000000 0018: 00000000 00000000 00000001 00000000 In Bytes 0000: D9 07 05 00 05 00 1D 00 Ù....... 0008: 14 00 2A 00 1E 00 98 02 ..*...˜. 0010: D9 07 05 00 06 00 1E 00 Ù....... 0018: 03 00 2A 00 1E 00 98 02 ..*...˜. 0020: 3C 00 00 00 3C 00 00 00 <...<... 0028: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ 0030: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ 0038: 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........

Okay, so if I do have a 300 watt psu and I didn't upgrade it, I would only be able to run a graphics card with a requirement of about 180 watts? If this is true, are there any decent cards out there with specs like that?

more info: when it crashes it says this. Irol_Not_Less_or_Equal Stop:0x0000000A(0x80000078, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x823C9FF9)

okay, under the systems section, I found 2 errors relating to the crash, but all it says is that it shut down unexpectedly, then I found a long continuing list of error, It said pml driver hpz12 service failed to start due to the following error: A required privilage is not held by the client. This list goes on and on, and the time of occurence is when my computer is turned off? Also, under the applications section I found several errors relating to hpz12 once again, although the errors are different. Also, there were two consecutive warnings saying that Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards. DETAIL - 1 user registry handles leaked from \Registry\User\S-1-5-21-2125698551-3454511934-2489293669-1000_Classes: Process 1000 (\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\svchost.exe) has opened key \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-21-2125698551-3454511934-2489293669-1000_CLASSES ( this was from the two warnings) I really appreciate you guys taking time to help, thanks

can you guys tell me if this will work or not, and if it is any good. Newegg.com - MSI N9600GT-MD512 GeForce 9600 GT 512MB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards Exactly how much watts and amps can my computer provide? I can't figure out, I am such a noob. Lets say my computer can supply 300 watts maximum, if I ran a card with a minimum requirement of 300watts, would it be safe?

Sorry if I am posting in the wrong section. I am new and couldn't find a problem/issues section. Alright, so recently in the past few days my computer has crashed multiple times. Sometimes my screen goes black and nothing happens except that my computer beeps a few times. Sometimes, when I crash it goes to the blue screen saying that it has crashed, something don't work, blah blah blah. Then, it changes to the screen where you can select to start in safe mode.I have scanned my computer for viruses and malware and nothing is wrong. Can someone please help me out? Thanks in advance for the help.

I have windows vista home premium, it is made by HP and the model # is m8226x, the processor is AMD athlon 64x2 dual core processor 6000+ 3.00GHz. I have 3gb of ram. My current graphics card is the Geforce 6150se. 500gb harddrive Motherboard Manufacturer: ECS Motherboard Name: MCP61PM-HM HP/Compaq motherboard name: Nettle2-GL8E Here is the link for total specs: Product Specifications Thanks once again.:)

I am new to this forum so I just want to say hi to all of you.:) Anyways, I have questions concerning graphics cards. I have a crappy graphics card with 128mb, I think its the Geforce 6150se. Anyways if I am looking for an upgrade to play first person shooter games mostly, what would be a good choice between $80-$120 USD?(or perhaps cheaper, because I am not familiar with the pricing of such items.) I know basically nothing about upgrading so, how do I determine if my comp can run with the card? I can post specs if you guys need it. Thanks in advance for the help. :D
