  1. Hi, I have a (ThinkCentre M72e) Window 7 Pro, 64 bit i5 computer here who's processor fan speed is running constantly at 100% even at boot up . To ensure this is not a over heating issue, I checked CPU with SpeedFan and ALL temperature readings are in the mid 40's and below. I moved the RAM from SLOT1 to SLOT2 and no change. Restored BIOS to Defaults, even Clear CMOS and replaced battery, still the processor fan is constantly running at full speed. What are my other options I can try to get the fan speed back to normal?
  2. I found the Maintenance and Service Guide on line. I took it apart, clean the fan and heat sink. Now it is working much better. :) http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01311536.pdf Thanks guys for the help.
  3. Great and thanks for the help. I can do it by myself with some online instructions on how to. Do anyone know where I can find instructions? I found instructions for the dv2xxxx but none for the dv9xxxx. I have a HP dv9420us labtop.
  4. Yes i am sure that the fans are working. I can hear them and also fell the warm air flowing from the air vent. Plus the mother board was replaced about 5 months ago.
  5. Hi, I have a HP Pavilion DV9000 19" Notebook, that has a AMD Turion 64 x2 chipset and a NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 that has some heat issues. So I got a Belkin Cooling Pad and that helps a bit but not enough. The cooling fan is clean and dust free and I have the latest Bios update install. When notebook is idle the GPU is 56-59C, when using normally 62-64C, watching movies 73-76C and gaming in the low 80s. Any cooling suggestions?
  6. Ok, your model does indeed come under the HP Service Warranty, to quote Confirm the problems you are having and contact HP. Thanks to all that helped me. I used the links and I confirm that the laptop is having the same problems stated on the HP web site. So I call HP and indeed I fall under the Service Warranty. They told me that I should receive a box in the mail in two to three business days so I can send it in for repairs. All repairs should take about 10 to 14 business days. My question is, has HP solved the problems with these laptop or are they just replacing bad motherboards with new faulty boards?
  7. Hi, What is the best way to fix the following error. HP desk top begins to boot and stop at the following. "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt (Windows root) \system\hal.dll Please re-install a copy of the above file." I already tired recovery and that did not work.
  8. Thanks for the information. The model/series number DV9420US and the product number GA354UA#ABA. Also it is a AMD model.
  9. Thanks for your help. I reinstalled Vista and all my files are there. But I am still having booting problem. Most times when I press power I also have to press F1 for the computer to boot. Twice it stopped during booting on a screen with blue lines. After boot up the laptop will work great, except for the wireless card, it just doesn’t work. I remove the wireless card and I also checked the memory chips to make sure they where not loss and still no improvement. Do you have any other ideas?
  10. Sorry I made a mistake, What I meant to say was Vista CD. I have two computers, a desk top which runs XP and a lap top that has Vista. My profile says XP because I am more familiar with XP but my lap top which has the booting problem runs Vista. I am trying to reinstall Vista on the lap (which came with Vista). But on the Which type of installation do you want page, Upgrade option is disabled. It is saying Upgrade has been disabled. What can I do to enable the Upgrade Option?
  11. Hi, I am trying to reinstall Vista. But on the Which type of installation do you want page, Upgrade option is disabled. It is saying Upgrade has be disabled. What can do to enable the Upgrade Option.
  12. Hi, I was installing Service Pack 2, but the lap top had booting problems before I tried installing the service pack. Just that the problems got worst after the lap top tried to reboot to finish the installation of the service pack. Thats when the code came up on the screen. My question is, if I reinstall Vista will I lose all my files?
  13. I have a HP Pavilion DV9000 Lap Top that has a booting problem. When I press power, the lights on the key board comes on for a few seconds then flashes off and on multiple times until I turn off the power. Other times while booting it will going throw files and will stop on !! Oxcolaold!! 28492/92571 (Registry\Machine\Components\Derived Data-). Also some times the lap top will try to fix the booting problem but with no prevail. I tried using the System Startup Repair, System Restore and Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool which found no problem with the memory. I even tried using the XP CD and the Startup Repair say "Windows Cannot repair this computer automatically". What else can I try to solve this problem?
