ok well thanks for all your help guys, think i'll get a memory stick sounds a lot easier than disks. So i plug into the usb socket, then what???

would it be saying insert disk in drive because im putting a blank disk in so it cant read anything on it so thinks there is no disk there?

the disk drive is on the left hand side and i cant see anything that says what it is laptop is dell inspiron 2500 if that helps

yes they are CD-R 52x 700mb by Tesco

yes they are tesco brand but working ok in new laptop so cant understand why not in the old one

they were about 3 quid in tesco

the problem is not with my new laptop, its def the old one as I have copied something from new laptop to blank disc with no problems. disks came from tesco, they are cd-r my old laptop is a dell but it is very old, at least 5 years i got it from a friend so dont know much about it. New laptop def has wireless, old one had a netgear wireless card in it which i removed a few days ago

Hi I've got myself a laptop and am trying to move all my pictures from my old lap top to my new one. I have tried getting them back from pc to camera with no luck so have now bought some disks, disks i bought are CD R. I copy picture folder, but when i try pasting in CD:Drive (D) i get message saying insert a disk into drive D which i have done. I have tried other disks in there and it reads them ok. I have also managed to get video clip from new laptop onto disk and then onto old laptop so I know teh disk drive is working. Any ideas on how to get round this problem or any other way of moving my pics to new laptop thanks
