geo940 replied to geo940's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Thanks lads checked it out and see what you mean ah well maybe I need the latest version anyway - its nice to know that there people who will give good help when needed the bloke in adobe.com could probably have put me right if he had bothered not good pr for them. Regards George -
Hi everyone I wonder if anyone can assist me with my problem, I took the plunge and got a windows 8 computer to use instead of my old xp model. there trouble is that I can download my version of adobe elements 9 from their website but it will not run. I asked adobe but they said they no longer offer help to that version. Every time I try to run the program the application part keeps asking me to open it and the main program starts to unzip the files, then the following message keeps appearing. A problem occurred while extracting some files check available space on your computer and write privileges on destination folder. The computer has a 750 gb hard drive hardly used and the rest I dont understand. Has anyone else had a problems like mine, please any help will be very much appreciated as I dont want to have splashed out on a computer that will not run one of my main programs:confused: Thanks a bunch George

Phillips series spe3000 500 gb external hard drive

Hi Nev it looks like my last post didnt get onto the site, sorry for the delay in answering but have been having hospital treatment and was not up to anything. Well I took my disc to a mate of my sons who has his own business and he tried to repair my drive, his conclusion was that it was knackered as he couldnt get it to wind up even after taking it out of the caddy and trying to slave it to his computer. So I guess its condemned to the bin, funny what losing a few files can do as I didnt drop or bang it so I think its a software fault, anyhow many tks for all of your help no doubt will be calling again in the near future Gegards George. -

Hi Synapse it seems weird that a few software files are lost and the drive will not sign on. It is a philips spe3000 series 500 gb, the only screws I can find on it are two philips at the top end were all the switch gear and plug in points are. Regards Geo940 -

Hi my name is George I have a problem with my external hard drive in that it will not boot up or is even recognized by my computer now. I came down to check my machine this morning to find microsoft essentials still running and a couple of messages popping up saying roughly that file $j:/ (the rest I missed and could not read) was lost and couldn't be recovered, ''J'' is the main drive path to my external drive. I stopped Microsoft Essentials running and it was then that I saw the the drive wouldn't boot up. I am running windows xp with service pack 3, I tried 2 or 3 system restore points going back 2 or 3 days but it did no good so I looked at one about 2 weeks ago but it said that the drive was not plugged in at that time and any changes made would be irreversible. Not knowing if the file was missing off my computer or the or the Phillips hard drive I decided to leave it for the time being. I have been in touch with Phillips Support Group but didn't get much help there. is there anyone out there who has had a problem similar to this and if so any help you offer me get back into my external drive would be greatly appreciated as my computer knowledge on these sort of problems is a bit limited. Regards - geo940

Hi back from computer hell, All the information you chaps gave me has paid off thanks very much. I had one or two gliches but at the moment have got 95 per cent of it going. The strange thing is that after the first install I run into some problems and had to retry and all the screens you were asking me about came up the most remarkable was the repair screen, so I can only assume that my system was badly corrupt. Once again many thanks will let you know if there is anything that I need any more help with cheers George

Hi have read those screen shots and advice on post 27 and have another problem I can delete the partition at C drive but at my own risk as it may contain valuable information pertaining to my re installation. The other alternative is the uninstall the non dos features but that is a bit drawn out. Will it be safe to un install this partition or should I go by the other route. Sorry but need advice again.

For my clean install In post 13 the screen after agreeing to the licence do I accept option 3 to delete the partition. Think I do but would just like to make absolutely sure. George
