I want to totally format my hard drive and start from scratch with my pc. I put the official windows disk in the drive and entered my BIOS. I changed the boot options so that it would primarily boot from disk, secondly from floppy and lastly from Hard Drive, saved and exited the BIOS. It then goes through the usual start-up screens until it says: Boot from disk... Press any key to boot from disk... I press any key and it still loads up from the Hard Drive! I also tried entering the boot set-up from the first start up screen which comes up with a list of the usual options i.e. CDROM, Floppy, HDD etc. but when I enter this my keyboard doesn't seem to want to work, I can't scroll through the options, select an option or eve Esc and have to reset the whole thing.
There are a few things that I thought may have caused the problem:
1) The CD Drive it was in. So, I tried putting it in both and still no further forward.
2) The fact that I have Windows XP Home edition and I was trying to over-write it with Windows XP Professonal (an apparently older version than that I already have installed). I was told that this should make no difference and that I should be able to replace Vista with 95 if I so wished.
3) That I had my pc protected by a password. I turned this setting off and it still won't work.
Any ideas?
