  1. thanks for the advice i took it in for repair saturday and the graphics card was shot.all now ok
  2. my computer was working ok until i upgraded firefox.as soon as new download had installed i clicked on the icon and an error message came up system32\usp10.dll is not a valid windows image. is this going to need a complete re installation of windows? i tried to re install firefox twice but still not working any ideas please
  3. yes the computer has the blue slot and the cable you are showing.that is where i am plugging the monitor into but to no avail.realy am pulling my hair out as i dont know whether to try and take it in for repair/upgrade or buy a new base unit.thanks
  4. when windows starts up i have done what you said (f8) but the screen is just full of unreadable text and icons so i cant access vga mode .is there anything else i could try if i cant read the start up screens?thanks
  5. my sons big bulky monitor packed up at the weekend so i went a brought a new 19 inch flat monitor.the old monitor looks like it plugged straight in to the motherboard with a 9 pin slot.the new monitor has a 15 pin slot so i just plugged it in to the graphics card.turned computer on and screen comes on but picture is unreadable.will it need a new graphics card or is there a setting that should be changed? if it is a setting how do i go about this if i cant read what is on screen?
