  1. Just to let you know that I have done the re-installation and everything is working fine again. Thanks again guys for all your help.
  2. After the Software Repair Wizard I have gone back to IE6 and problem is still there. I have already tried it. Just tried it but didn't work. I am waiting for my WD 1TB hard to arrive then I am going to use recovery DVD to restore my system as this seems to be the ultimate solution. Thanks again guys for all your help.
  3. I tried the Software Repair Wizard last night and guess what it still didn't work. I don't really want to anything else and I have no other option other than full system recovery. You never know it may still not work for some reason.
  4. sfc /scannow has now finished and no unusual outcome. I can see a recovery option and its called Software Repair Wizard and I am going to look into it. Jelly Bean thanks very much for all your help and I really appreciate it.
  5. I tried it yesterday but didn't come up with anything but I am running it again.
  6. I have just tried uninstall/reinstall audio drivers but problem is still there and I am totally fedup. I do have recovery disc but I am thinking of getting a new external hard drive and put all the stuff on it and then run the recovery disc. Any adivice on which one to get. Is this any good? Thanks
  7. Sound settings in sound manager look fine and nothing is muted, I will try to download a new one and get back to you. Thanks Jelly Bean for all your advise I really appreciate it but nothing seems to be working, I know its too late and I am tired too. I'll give it a go tomorrow. Thanks again
  8. Yes I do have taskbar icon and when I test the sound it works ok. I have changed the them to windows xp default but still no sound. Its really frustrating.
  9. I am using IE8 and I haven't uninstalled any sound drivers. I am using HP Pavilion t3140.uk Desktop PC with Realtek alc880 on board sound. I have tried uninstall/reinstall IE but didn't work. I think audio driver is fine because I am getting sound from real/media player as well as ITV Player on IE but I not getting any system sounds. I have the latest Adobe Flash and Java plugins. I have also tried both tricks from My Digital Life. Nothing seems to be doing anything.
  10. I have tried all the 5 steps and Jelly Bean's fixes but still no joy. I don't know what else to try.
  11. Thanks I have tried the zip file and when I rebooted the pc I am getting this error message RUNDLL Error loading tC\Docume~\HP_Owner\Locals~1\Temp\nos_uninstall_Adobe.dll The specified module could not be found. I think this is same message I was getting before. Do you think this is causing the sound trouble. Thanks
  12. Can't remember the error message  but I have rebooted again and there is no error message .
  13. Thanks Plastic Nev, I have just uninstalled the Adobe Flash player then reboot the pc and I got a dll error message on start up. I have reinstalled the Adobe Flash player but sound problem is still there.
  14. I have changed it to windows default theme but no luck. I have looked in device manager but there isn't any problem with the sound driver because sound works fine in media/real player. Another strange thing I have noticed is that there is no sound on youtube and bbc iplayer but works ok on itv player. Thanks for you replies.
  15. Thanks for your reply but its not mute, any other suggestions please.
