Hello, I thought this might be a good place to ask for some help. I've been having problems with my monitor for quite a while now. Basically, when playing games, or watching videos on Youtube, annoying, glitchy, horizontal lines appear on the screen when something fast moves on it. The lines are like parts of the game/video, but are frozen there for a second, and are then replaced with more lines after something else moves across the monitor. This is really hard to explain. Apart from that, I am unable to run programs with a resolution lower than 1024x768, or a refresh rate higher than 60HZ. If I do, the display will go crazy. Like I stated earlier, with the horizontal lines, but a lot worse. There will be lots of these lines, constantly appearing then disappearing, causing the display to look garbled and wavey. It especially looks bad when running full screen programs. I have noticed, when I boot the PC up, the Windows XP screen with the loading bar also suffers this problem, what with it being a low resolution by default. It suddenly happened at one point, and I have no idea what caused it. At first, the shaky lines appeared on whatever I was doing on the PC at the time, whether it be looking on the internet or just the desktop, it only stopped when I lowered the refresh rate from 75HZ to 60HZ. The cables that connect to my monitor are pushed in correctly, my drivers are up to date, and so are my graphics card drivers. Some of my specs are: Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition. Processor: AMD Sempron 3200+ 1.8GHz Memory: 1280MB RAM Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 405 Monitor: Acer AL1717 I tested to see whether it was the graphics card or the monitor by hooking it up to my sister's laptop and playing a game on it. The same occured, proving to be the monitor's fault. I have a video here: YouTube - Weird Monitor Problem It's not very noticeable, but more so on the edges of the monitor.
