What happens when you do a normal shut down Rocket? Will it reboot ok without having to resort to shutting it off at the mains?

Did you change the bios to boot from the Vista disk, ie via the cdrom drive?

Try going to All Programs/ Accessories/ Command Prompt Right click on Command Prompt and click Run as Administrator
