Well, I identified the Compatibility patch in programmes and uninstalled. Then downloaded the upto date version but it would not install because a certain file was already on my computer (presumably the file associated with KB 973704). So I have ended up doing a system restore back to where I was when I made the above postings. Still stuck.

I run with XP Home SP3. I have MS Office 2003. A while ago in order to open documents received from someone with MS Office 2007 I downloaded a patch from MS. All has been well. I have my machine set for automatic updates. Yesterday I received for updates. Three installed but KB973704 refuses to install. This is a security patch for MS Office 2007 and those with the compatibility patch. I had thought to uninstall the patch and the download the latest version, but cannot identify it in my Add or Remove Programs list. Can anyone please help me overcome this problem? Barmoor

I know it sounds crazy and I dont want to insult you, but my friend had exactly the same problem. I even went to the extent of downloading the latest drivers from HP without success. In the end it turned out that her ink cartridge was empty and because of this the printer just would not work. New cartridges, all in one printer scanner worked. Good luck. Barmoor
