  1. Had a reply. They cancelled the order as they are having problems with their UK site! As I thought, a US company. They did say I could re-order using their US site. Not sure if I will bother yet, got use to the fan now. But import tax will need to be paid, been caught like that before, makes things very expensive especially if Royal Mail go anywhere near it.
  2. Hi Nev Just placed an order through the link you gave. Don't know if it will work though, strange little site. Even though it says UK, I'm pretty sure (if the fan is sent!) it's from the US. Payment is COD, which I find a little odd! The seller has got to lay out some cash to send. Shrug! I don't know! But at least I haven't given any card details. Sent them an email for confirmation, so will wait & see. Steve
  3. Sorry Nev for the late reply, forgot all about this. It's the Fan that's shown in the link you posted. Just got to check that is the correct fitment & I should be good to go. I think from the description he can also supply the little rubber mounts. Thanks mate Steve
  4. The fan on my Dell Dimension 2300 is noisy on start up, quietens down after it's been running for about 15 mins. Been looking to replace the fan, but am having trouble locating one. Anyone know where I can get a new or refurbed one? I took the fan out & pulled it apart from the housing. It is mounted on some rubber bungs. Needless to say with an old machine they have fallen apart, probably accounts for some of the noise! So I need to replace these aswell. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Steve
  5. Yep! That's cured it...........average 6.5 + MB/s download speed with ethernet connection. Was easy to set up once I'd found out the username & password for my broadband. Thanks so much for your help Ken. Once again top site! Steve
  6. It's a Netgear N300 wireless ADSL2+ Work & Play
  7. Hi Ken Your help is much appreciated. Did two cable speed checks & two wireless speed checks on the wife's laptop. Cable checks..... 1. 2.79 MB/s 2. 1.60 MB/s Wireless checks.. 1. 5.79 MB/s 2. 5.60 MB/s I think you have found the problem mate! Surely the wired check should be better than the wireless? I do have a new router at hand, but I would need help setting it up as I don't think they are plug & play? Steve
  8. Hi Ken 1. I disabled both firewall & security essentials which made no difference. 2. I have tried with 3 different browsers, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome & Firefox. All have the same problem. 3. I have tried to set up a wireless connection, but cannot get connected. There is a connection there, but all I get is acquiring network address over & over, which it cannot do. (using a netgear wireless usb adapter) 4. I tried the other three connection ports on my router, but they didn't seem to work at all. Do I need to re-configure a connection for the other ports? Or should they just work automatically? It can't be the wireless part of the router as My wife's, daughters & sons laptops all work fine. So I am presuming there must be a fault on my PC? What would I need to look at?
  9. A few things to add............. It took approx 45 minutes to download Malware Windows XP works fine Sometimes when I try to load pages or log in (particularly if I have been on one site for a long time) it's as if my PC forgets what it's been asked to do. I have to close my browser & re-open for it work properly.
  10. Hi Ken Should I have done a full scan? Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.75.0.1300www.malwarebytes.org Database version: v2013.05.13.03 Windows XP Service Pack 3 x86 NTFS Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18702 Owner :: JOSH [administrator] 13/05/2013 13:38:01 mbam-log-2013-05-13 (13-38-01).txt Scan type: Quick scan Scan options enabled: Memory | Startup | Registry | File System | Heuristics/Extra | Heuristics/Shuriken | PUP | PUM Scan options disabled: P2P Objects scanned: 226289 Time elapsed: 6 minute(s), 20 second(s) Memory Processes Detected: 0 (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Detected: 0 (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Detected: 0 (No malicious items detected) Registry Values Detected: 0 (No malicious items detected) Registry Data Items Detected: 0 (No malicious items detected) Folders Detected: 0 (No malicious items detected) Files Detected: 1 C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Downloads\PDFReaderSetup.exe (Adware.Agent) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully. 11. I dunno! seems like there is something blocking the internet on my PC?
  12. It is better watching streamed vid or listening to music on the net. But regularly stops as my play rate catches up with the download rate & stops, almost like it goes to sleep/forgets what it's doing, if that makes sense? Then eventually it will start again. Damn frustrating!
  13. Hi Not that I know! Turned off microsoft firewall & download speed has gone up to over 2MB/s Still not the 5MB/s my son can get! I am also running Microsoft security essentials. As far as I know that is all that's loaded on my PC.
  14. Hi Mate, I tried a new cable & made no difference.
  15. Just done a broadband speed check on my old Dell Dimension PC. As my internet seems to have slowed to a crawl for a while now. The result was surprising...........0.5MB/s Asked my son to try the same test on his ipod touch ,came out at nearly 5.0MB/s My PC has a direct link to my router, whilst my son was obviously wireless. Anyone have any ideas of what the problem could be? It used to work fine!
