  1. Thanks for the advice. I will take the thing apart and give it a good clean. I remember the last laptop I had, I'm a smoker and I often smoke while i'm working on my laptop. Anyway, after about 6 months since I bought it I opened it up to fit a new fan because the one inside wasn't moving. I was absolutly shocked at how much dust, dirt and fluff had built up around the fan. It turned out I didn't need a new fan in the end, I just needed to unblock all this THICK tobacco dirt and it worked perfectly again. Anyway back to my current issue, I give it a good clean. I'll go to the makers site and download all the latest firmware. Fingers crossed it will be okay. let you know how I get on. Thanks again
  2. For some time now my Laptop (vista home premium) has had an issue where every so often for no apparent reason I would hear the usb Duh Dum! unplug sound and if I was watching a video (on or offline) at the time, the video would continue to play but I would have no sound. Also for about 10-20 seconds after the usb sound my wireless mouse would stop working. Because this issue only happened occasionally I put up with it but now it's got worse. About 2 weeks ago I decided to do a system restore back to factory settings. It all went fine with no problems but then the above problem started again, I would have thought a system restore would have corrected the mistake but obviously it hasn't. The thing is, it's happening more often now, at least once a day usually twice. Also, when it happens now the laptop shuts itself down and restarts. Before it shuts down though I get a blue screen and at the bottom of the screen it has a countdown of numbers and it says memory dump. When the computer restarts itself I have lost any changes or work I have done since I turned my laptop on and it's really frustrating, yesterday I had to write a long letter because it disappeared after this issue happened. Please help, I have no idea what it could be. I've looked in my device manager because it seems to effect usb but all drivers are up to date and I have no yellow triangles anywhere.
  3. For the last 7 months or so every time I hit a bad link and get the 'Oops! this link appears to be broken' (Google HTTP 404-File not found) page, it displays this page notification correctly but only for a fraction of a second before it redirects to another page that looks identical except in the bullet point under suggestions it say's: Go to: http://www.memepasmal.net and in the google search box it has the foreign words 'Kikoolol me mepa small net' I have never visited, searched or had any connection to the site http://www.memepasmal.net but it appears every single time after the page automatically redirects from one 404 page to another. Also I'm sure this is relevant too, Last week I tried to instal apache Xampp to be able to develop a wordpress blog locally but every time I viewed my local host[/url] after instal, I'd get a page that was in a foreign language with a link to the same site. It did have some english which said, 'this url has been blacklisted' I'm worried all this might be signs that my machine is part of some zombie network being used to send spam email's from my IP address. Does this sound likely? How could I resolve this problem and discover exactly what is happening? Any idea who or what this http://www.memepasmal.net site is and why is it always appearing in my localhost and google 404 pages. I have attached four files to this thread... Theres a screenshot of the page I get when I view my localhost (its in 3 parts [top, middle, bottom] to fit within the attachment dimensions) and the other file is a screenshot of the 404 redirect page. :confused:PLEASE HELP ME, THIS IS SOOOO ANNOYING:confused:
