  1. Hi. It's been a week. I exchanged the monitor but it still wasn't 100% (kept flickering). I bought a cheap nvidia 7600GS and every thing's running OK so far. It'll do until I build a new system. thanks. :)
  2. You are most likely correct that it's the card at fault and not the monitor but I'm unable to obtain a test card in the short term. Here's what I've decided to do: seeing as I bought the monitor today I'll take it back tomorrow and ask for an exchange. If another new monitor does the same thing then we'll know it's likely to be the card and it'll give me more time to source another which I can test. In hindsight I think it's more likely the card seeing as my current crt monitor keeps going purple (or less green). Thanks for your help. I'll keep you posted. :)
  3. Hi I've checked the refresh rate and it's already on 60hz. It's going through my graphics card and unfortunately I don't have an onboard option. I've tried using both the vga and the dvi connection but the problem remains the same.
  4. Hi. I'm guessing this is a monitor issue but it could be something else. My monitor keeps going purple so I thought it was on its way out. So today I decided to buy a new one; it's a Samsung P2050 20" widescreen. However, I'm having problems with this too; every few minutes or so it goes black, then to some test card type screen and then turns itself off. but it isn't completely off as the red light is still on and the menu buttons work but there is nothing on screen. I have to switch it off at the wall and back on to get it working again. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Could it be my graphics card? Cheers.
  5. Hi to everyone on this forum. I've been using computers for pretty much my whole life so I hope to be of some help to others as well as receiving some good help myself. :)
