vista recovery hi I made the disk on a DVD , its a Packard Bell.I've been on to P C world as I have some sort of insurance cover which doesn't cover this problem .they advised me to either get a vista disk from P Bell or try installing Xp instead which i tried to do from my son's Toshiba . xp started to install but i got a blue screen with various errors now i don't have the option to uninstall Xp . Any ideas would be appreciated Col (Novice)

Hi My pc won't start up keeps getting black screen , system repair couldn't fix the problem so decided to do full system recovery using Packard Bell recovery disk which I made myself .it all seemed to be going well until it asked for disk 2 .When I created the recovery disks i wasn't given the option to make a second disk and thought all the necessary files were on the first DVD. I get the message BootMgr is missing can you advise what i can do if anything

Possible virus hi Tried all of those tools apart from the online tool as this PC is not connected to the internet or my home network. This a PC I was given from a friend .He emptied all personal files from my docs, music and photos etc but there is still 6.5 GB of stuff some where ,there was 8 GB before I used the tools you recommended and uninstalled some unneeded programs. Can you suggest somewhere I can search for files . I don't want to connect to the other Pc's on the home network until I am sure it is virus free. Col

sony laptop Does it have to be a sony charger or will any with the same voltage do. Does this go for replacing a charger on any laptop Col

I have a Sony Vaio Laptop PCG -7A1M . its about 4/5 years old . It's been working fine until one day it wouldn't switch on , no power at all. Is there anything i can try before I take it for repair .Don't think its the cable as light is still on the cable. I've been told the only parts that an amateur can attempt is to relace the hard drive and add more RAM. Is this the case? Col

XP RECOVERY A mate gave me an old Pc they don't use anymore as I'm doing a MCDST course and need to have a PC to practice partitioning disks which I'm not having much luck with . It's a TIME Pc which from what I'm told are rubbish . I made the floppies on another Pc a HP Pavillion as far as I know they created successfully. I don't have a XP disk for the HP either so if you could point me in the right direction. Col

Hi I want to wipe a hard drive on a desktop and reinstall windows XP Home . I don't have the original XP disk so followed the instructions on the Microsoft website to create the 6 floppy boot disks. When I inserted the disk into the Pc , it wouldn't boot from the disk (I changed the setting in the BIOS to floppy) but no luck. Any suggestions? Colin
