  1. Hi there, misread your solution suggestion, I thought you were saying a CPU may be needed, luckily I re-read and realized it was a PSU you suggested, I backed off the almost complete rebuild and bought just the power supply from here 430Watt True Power Silent ATX Power Supply Unit - Misco.co.uk My motherboard has a 24 pin ATX socket and Sata HDD's this power supply had a 20 pin ATX socket with additional 4 pin socket, plus Sata HDD power connectors, it only hat 3 ide/ata power connectors and a power connector for a 3.5" floppy, it had 2 other power connectors as well as the 4 pin cpu power supply which I think is really good considering the price. I plugged it all in turned it on and my PC is now working again, thank you for your help, only took 3 days to get part and fit after a solution was posted by you. very greatful. RGK...
  2. Thank You, I am already looking towards a new CPU, I was going to get new Motherboard, case, PSU And RAM, But The Motherboard I found To Fit The AMD Phenom II X2 3.01Ghz says it supports DDR2 240 Pin SD Ram which I have 4 X 1gb. This Is the Motherboard Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 Motherboard Phenom FX Socket AM2+: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo The CPU AMD Phenom II X2 550 3.1 GHz 7MB Cache Edition Dual: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo The PSU 430Watt True Power Silent ATX Power Supply Unit - Misco.co.uk And the case Car design PC Gaming Case with Blue LED fans: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo I really hope they are all compatible, This is the best hardware I can afford (Well not really afford, but really need my PC running) I know how to do a repair install and sort the chipset changing problem so I don't have to do a fresh install, and I can save my Data. Thanks again RGK.....
  3. Hi, I have a Dell Dimension 5000, Intel Pentium 4 Dual Core 3.0Ghz With HT Technology (Prescott I Think). I am Running Windows XP Home Edition 32 Bit Just This Evening, I installed an update for Nokia Mobile Suite V7.?? After Download And install, A restart was required, I agreed to restart and the PC started closing down, (Went to blue log off/saving settings and then hung at windows is shutting down). I left it for 5 minutes or so and then did a Hard OFF with power button on front. I waited a few seconds and then pressed the power button to turn PC back on, There was no response apart from a quick flash a second or two later, tried a few times but nothing happened, I removed the power cable from back of PC, Hoping to drain the power completely from the system, I waited 10 minutes or so then plugged power back in, This time the power light came on without pressing of the power button, and also a bit of mad flickering, not unlike the light on an SD card reader when plugged in, I opened the side of the case and the LED in front panel was on and also the main interior power light was on, After removing power cable both power lights stay on for 30 seconds or so and then go out, Plugged power back in after a short wait but the same thing happened again. This is first time this has happened, Hard disk is quite new less than 6 months and all was well until restart. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance, If I have left anything out please just ask. RGK
