This sounds odd, but several hundred files have disappeared from about 40 - 50 different directorys sometime in the last month - strange thing is that all directories still contain filenames beginning with the letter A - F, but anything starting with the letter G - Z have disappeared. Have run trend micro and AVG - neither have brought anything up. Have run recovermyfile, which found no trace of the missing files. Files are on a laptop, which synchronizes to network, so the network ones have gone as well. A lot of work lost and a lot of history, but main concern is that it can happen again if dont find out why. This cannot have been physically done without a lot of time and effort. Any suggestions - can only think that some external influence eg virus etc.:confused:
