BSOD happening 7eral times a day
danzil replied to Bazman's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
to check your boot sequence you would need to enter your BIOS> depending on what bios you have it will be a case of pressing the F2 key or the DELETE key at POST (startup), then checking your boot sequence. this should be set to your main drive, the main drive being the drive that hous3es your operating system. maybe worth checking that your Solid State Drive running mode, is it set to SATA or AHCI. again there is a possibility that a firmware update is available for your SSD. As for the boot.ini very sorry for the misleading information, windows 7 does not have a boot.ini as such, it now uses a boot manager. to view this go to start (orb) type in cmd then right click cmd as choose run as administrator. click yes on the prompt screen. when you see a black box (looks like DOS) type in bcedit then press enter take a screenshot of what you see, use snipping tool if needs be. regards -
Hi sounds like they have been blacklisted by SORBS. this maybe due to SPAM or they are configure to be an open relay, (open relay will allow anyone to hitch a free email ride via there email server/provider), that is what you should check first. check Sorbs website and see if there domain is listed in there database. regarding the TLS message, what app/ emails server do you use, are you forcing mail to be sent as TLS. best regards

the memory could not be read
danzil replied to BeerMonster's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
can you boot into safe mode, then try a system restore to a time before this happened. you may want to run Memtest, and it may also be beneficial to reset your bios to factory in case you have some hardware referencing Ram at the same I/O. regards -
what model is your current graphics card, and what motherboard do you use. some motherboards can run dual display using the on-board VGA/DVI/HDMI and the same with an additional graphics card. best regard

BSOD happening 7eral times a day

Hi looking at the error you are getting I can see it noting HAL.dll. few questions if you don't mind> how many hard drives do you have installed in this machine? what is the bios boot up sequence set to. has the boot.ini been edited in anyway. (for example an attempted operating system update, or booting from an additional source). have seen this issue a few times when 2 or more hard drive have been installed and the boot sequence has been set wrong, this caused the OS to act extremely strange and throw the same errors as seen in this thread. also seen the hal.dll error with corrupt hard drive, you have done a scandisk so can almost rule that out, If the boot.ini file has been changed it can also throw this error. Are all your driver including chipset up to date? and of course the bios? have not been around for a while so sorry if I seem to be jumping in. best regards -
Hi XP does come with limitied SATA controller support, but as Ken B said XP is clever enough to know your drive is not fromt he orignal system. i would suggest making sure in your bios that the SATA controller is set to IDE and not AHCI then run a repair install. regards

upgrading windows 2000 server to windows xp pro
danzil replied to smithy953's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Xp may not have the drivers for your SATA/RAID card, look on the manufacturers website for AHCI/SATA drivers, usually say "for the f5 option" or similar. during setup you will be asked to press "f5" (if memory servers me correctly) to install 3rd party drivers, put a floppy drive in or a correclty formatted USB pen that has these drivers, once the drivers are found you can continue installation. beware you still may not have the upgrade option. best regards -

Cannot resize server partition (Solved)
danzil replied to triskaidekaphobia's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hi what build of Easus are you using. have you also tried using DiskPart. if i understand you correctly you have removed the E: partition correct?, in easus server edition you should be able to right click the C: drive and choose resize, then simply move the slider across, then apply. does not always require a reboot, are you using the live cd,(bootable cd)or the program that is installed within windows. to help you more please can you give me the follwoing info. what OS version, aware its windows server 2k3 how is this patched what service packs? how big is the primary drive. how much free space overall is on this drive. what build of easueus do you use. i have used this software on windows servers 2000/2k3.2008 and exchange 2007 with no issue so should be able to assist you with this. look forward to your reply. best regards -
HDD failure recovery with Acronis ?
danzil replied to Osprey's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hi. i agree with Randy, back up the drive, isntall a new one, install the OS as fresh then reinstate your data. the longer you keep accessing this drive the greater the risk of the drive fialing completely, this could prove a costly to recover, or may become corrupt beyond recovery. -
Hi D:\acerdata is the partition that holds the image to re-install windows to Acer factory default,,, usually you will be prompted to press a key on startup to acces the recovery, or you would have a Acer recovery Disc. when you say you have 2 xp home installs can you remember formatting the drive etc. can you see your old data on the root of the hard drive. you maybe able to edit the boot.ini and set the original install as active, back this file up first. then locate your newly install xp and remove the file. with out more information it is hard to say the best method. i would suggest backing up all data on that drive, if you have access to another machine you can attach the drive using a caddy or direct depending on type of drive and PC, back up all data then do a full factory restore, then reinstate your data. this will mean you will have to reinstall all your applications.

WINDOWS WON'T START, BLUE SCREEN MESSAGE
danzil replied to JSS64's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hi. as mentioned above you will need a windows CD, it is not strictly true that you will need Home or Pro, it is simply checking the NTFS file structure which either CD can do. As you have access to a computer you could always try downloading a linux live cd, this will allow you to run a operating system direct from the CD (and in RAM), most have a disk checking utility. have you tried safe mode as mentioned above, try safe mdoe with command prompt then try running the chkdsk command. hope that helps -
Hi how is your machine connecting to the internet, Wireless or Ethernet, are you getting a connection state, for example does your machine say Wireless conencted, or Local Area Connection network cable unplugged. first thing is to make sure you are conencted, and as that your Wireless card or Ethernet drivers are installed. you will see if they are in device manager. then make sure you have an IP address, Start>Run>ipconfig you should see you have an ip similar to 192.168.1.xx or similar. if you do try inging a site for example: start>run>ping www.microsoft.com if you see that you get a reply then you are defianlty connected ok. do you have awindows XP cd to hand, if so i can post a command that will fully re-install IE6 to OS Default. hope that helps best regards

hi if you are getting graphics all ok on an extenal monito then your internal GPU is fine, this is most liekly as you say the inverter board, or potentially the video cable. if you see a faint picture then it is in my experience mostly the inverter. but in some cases this can be the backlight. Inverters are very cheap on eBay and are relativly easy to fit if you know a little about electronics, but as always the inverter has power so be carefull. if you go with fixing this yourself then dissconnect the PSU and the Battery and leave this out for a day, this will drain any charge stored. hope that helps some what. best regards

I agree with Nev, go into your bios and change your first boot hard drive to the one that has the active OS on it, do not confuse this with first second third etc boot options. best regards
