hi, no antivirus, windows defender and ad aware and a small registry cleaner. First speed was 1.7GHz, 2 mins later when it read 2.19GHz, seems to have spurts of speed then slows.

hi, I've a new laptop, a pcspecialist enigma Intel core 2 duo 2.2 Ghz T6600, 2Gb ram, ati graphics card, xp pro sp3. In general use windows runs slow and has obvious lag. My other lappy, a 1.4 celeron with xp home sp2, runs windows faster with no screen lag. I went for a fast machine that can handle graphics, but the new lappy seems slower overall. Any ideas on speeding things up ? Did a CPU-Z test and result was 1197 MHz.
