  1. thank you very very much, everything is now up and running, i really appreciate all of the help that you have given me.
  2. danzil thank you for your help. i still have one probelm tho. the front paneks usbs are now working, the front and rear output for speakers are working. the mic is not, i do have one mic wire left over tho and that is mic power. does this got o pin 4 or pin 7. i tried both but still dont seem to work. thanks for all the help so far, if we can get the mic owrking i will be extremely grratefull.
  3. hi danzil, i have taken a pic of the motherboard, the audio and the two sets of wires i have, the link is as follows http://s185.photobucket.com/albums/x263/pharno/ hope this will help.
  4. well danzil, accoridng to all the information i can find that should be th motherboard in my machine, but guess what. its not. the one in the pic on that link is pink/purple - cant see it very clear and only has two pci slots. my board is green and has 3 pci slots. the two white stickers near the memory have the following information on them :- TGSR41600715 AA C54560-203 and the other states 40001110-02615 (EM) 144901. apart from this i can find no informatyion about the make at all. and thank you for the list of where to put the wires but the lables u have stated do not match the labels i have? im seriously lost here. the wires i have for the front panel sound are nearly the same, however i have: mic-in mic-pwr ground - all for the mic i think. and l-out r-out l-ret r-ret ground as i have two grounds i am unsure where each one needs to go. the more i look into this the more i think my case and board are not standard. i can take a picture of the board, but not sure how i can let u see it.
  5. ah problem, i can not see where it states the make or model of the motherboard., there are some white stickers by the memory slots, with the word intel under but then the sticker is over the top. and i think i now know why i have no audio, when i was fiddling the other day, i must have removed the wires from the front audio jacks, as they are not connected. i have found the hub lablled audio config, and the wires are lablled, mic-power, mic-in and ground on one lot and the other has l-out, r-out, l-ret, r-ret and ground, and i am totally clueless as to how to wire them up. i also have another set of wires lablled vcc, +d, -d and ground, two sets one with 1 precedding the labels and the other labelled two. this may explain why my audio is not working.
  6. ok danzil. this will sound daft but exatly where am i looking to find the make of the motherboard etc. the computer is standard as per when it was bought brand new, only change i have made is to replace the hard drive, and the reinsatll windows, this is when i began to have problems with the sound from the back of the case. and now i am no longer able to get anything from the front audio jacks, can not record sound or anything.
  7. spec is as on the emachines website u directed me to.
  8. hi danzil all drivers where on the restore cd provided by emachines, as i had recent;y changed the hard drive, there is a jack on the front. and these work. so i could use them, but i wanted to sort out the ones at the back
  9. maynardvdm, thanks for your reply, i have checked its not on mute and the speakers themselves workon other machines, so i know thats not the fault, it must be the jack itself.
  10. hi danzil, i have no idea if the sound card is turned on in BIOS because i have no clue when it comes to bios, but i would assume it is if the mic is working. i cant tell you what make and model the motherboardis, all i can say is that it is an emachines computer, model 2220, with an intel® Celron® 2.70GHz processor. if you can help from that info it would be greatly appriciated. oh by the way, i recently had to reinstall windows when i upgarded the hard drive so all the information on the drive would be set to the factory settings, hope this helps a bit more. i have had the idea that if it does turn out to be the jack itself, as i have now noticed that the blue (line in) jack is not working either, it may be easier to get a new sound card, or would that cause more problems with the installed sound card being an on-board one pharno.
  11. hi danzil, yes i tried that, i did state that i tried different speakers and headphones in my original message, and, not being rude, but the jack is clearly labelled so i know i got the right one. only thing i can think of is that the actual jack itself is knackered.
  12. Danzil, thank you for your reply. i have tried this. i can find no problem with the software at all and the soundcard is working properly. could the fault be with the actualy 3.5mm jack?
  13. i have a problem i cant get sound from my speakers, it looks like the deivce drivers for my sound card (realtek ac'97) are there, and i can record sound from my mic using the sound recorder but just cant get anything from my speakers, i tried different speakers and headphones and nothing, anyone got any ideas what might be wrong.
