  2. hi to you all, how do you open a winrar download,i have downloaded a programe but dos not seem to work. any ideas??. im using windows vista. using nero9, convert x to dvd, and roxio dvd maker.many thanks in advance.
  3. have got my vista computer working again,xp would not reconise the vista disc,(not compatable with xp, will now use the second hd as more storage on the xp computer.thank you all for your advice and help.
  4. i have now bought a new card, after installing , i can now see the screen, did full factory recovery, everything is now working like new. many thanks to all who answered, and helped me.
  5. i dont have onboard graphics ,is there any way of testing the graphics card,to save buying a new one , witch may not be the problem.many thanks.sorry for delay, been busy in the garden.
  6. the drive connections are ide, i have ide cable with a hd connection half way along, for second drive,?do i need to set the second hd jumpers to slave??. the model is packard bell media. pentium 4. not shure were to find mainboard info.many thanks.

  8. the picture is the same in the bios,completly messed up.cannot boot into windows normally, nor cannot get into safe mode.many thanks.
  9. error message after hp logo screen, startup repair(recomended),press enter to accept. screen goes blank. then restarts second message start windows normally press enter to accept, screen goes blank. unable to get to device manager, or desk top, never gets that far.there was a message regards a corrupt file but the picture was bad.constantly overlaping.it did a start up repair , but had error message, could not repair automaticly.many thanks.
  10. have tried monitor and cable on another computer, and both worked fine. have tried last known config, and tried to do a startup repair, had error message, could not repair automaticly,will not go into safe mode.bios/set up is the same.have tried reseating graphics card/and memory,and checked all connections. still overlaping.many thanks.
  11. the brand of computer is hewlett packard, hp media center pc, m7770uk.the discs i am using are recovery discs that i copied of the computer when i first bought it. many thanks for your help.
  12. i have since learned that i have downlowded a corrupt file, is there any way i can remove it and reload vista?.
  13. have partition, tried f10 , pressed entertoaccept highlighted yes. tried f11 got error message, missing files or corupt. picture is a mess with windows overlapping. can,t even get to desk top. have reloaded from backup discs, and managed to get to recovery manager and reloaded, no change.

  15. packard bell media center.there have been no changes or new installations. operating system vista home , problem , im having problems with startup, turn on power get hp logo, the picture is overlaping with black vertical lines. new window ,goes to startup repair, error message, cannot repair this computer automaticlly. new window. system restore, error message unable to restore. the screen is still showing picture overlaping, with six mouse pointers, three top, three bottom of screen. unable to run safe mode, have done recovery with back up discs no change ,think hard drive is ok.
