adobe icons everywhere after system updates
Gadgie replied to Gadgie's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hi Starbuck Thanks for the help. Can I ask does the ExeFix.reg just backup the registry before I do the fix or will do the back up and fix the problem with adobe? Also can I ask that when you say "Boot your computer into the account that has trouble running exe files" is this simply logging on to the computer as the user profile that I usually use? Many thanks -
adobe icons everywhere after system updates

Hi Ken Thanks for your reply. I had a quick look at the link and can I ask which registry keys do I back up before hand? I found this online which offers an explanation of how to do the back up before hand can I ask if it looks ok to follow this advice? http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/backup-registry-windows-7.htm cheers -
Hi I was hoping someone can help. After doing some updates on my laptop there are now adobe icons showing everywhere where the proper icons should be. For example where the Kaspersky icon should be the Adobe icon appears instead even though the description still shows as Kaspersky. When I click to open this up instead of Kaspersky opening I get the following message: Adobe Reader could not open "starter_avp.exe" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged(for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded) Can anyone help? Many thanks

choosing a monitor for console gaming
Gadgie replied to Gadgie's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
no problem, thanks for taking the time to post a reply its much appreciated. I will probably stick with my original choice rather than confuse myself any further, just thought I would seek out some other opinions just in case I had made a bad choice. cheers -
Hi I was thinking about getting a monitor for my console gaming since I dont often get the chance to play on the family TV. Firstly can someone confirm that a monitor is a better option than a small HD tv as some people say that monitors give far better pictures with no ghosting etc while others say that console graphics can look really terrible on a monitor. Assuming a monitor is the best option I have a budget of around £150. I was looking at the following: http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GW2750HM-27-inch-Full-Monitor/dp/B0081VNB6K/ref=sr_1_10?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1418682206&sr=1-10&keywords=monitor but am confused as there are also the following similar models: http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GW2760HM-27-inch-Multimedia-Monitor/dp/B00AQBWNXA/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1418681780&sr=1-2&keywords=monitor http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GL2760H-27-inch-Monitor-1920/dp/B00HZF2ME0/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1418682206&sr=1-1&keywords=monitor http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GW2760HS-Multimedia-Monitor-Speakers/dp/B00BPL0558/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1418682206&sr=1-3&keywords=monitor http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-EW2740L--inch-1920-Monitor/dp/B00FQ8B118/ref=sr_1_4?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1418682206&sr=1-4&keywords=monitor I have never bought a monitor so am a bit out of my depth. I would appreciate any advice to help me decide on the best option. I will also be watching dvd's / bluerays but gaming will be the main use. Many thanks

[Solved] major slowdown problems
Gadgie replied to Gadgie's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hi Couldn't get my internet to download so tried reverting system back to a previous date which seems to have fixed all the problems so you can close this thread. Thanks anyway for your attention. Cheers -
Hi My computer very suddenly is now running incredibly slowly making it almost impossible to use. I'm writing this from my mobile. Not sure what has happened. Did notice that Kaspersky databases are out of date but tried updating and it took three hours to get to 2% then didn't get any further. Have tried conecting to neighbours router but still incredibly slow. But whole operating system is going very slow. Starbuck very recently helped me romove some malware in case you need to know. Any ideas? Many thanks
