OK I found out what it was... windows is tied to one motherboard at a time... just had to reinstall it from the disk... problem solved

Ok here we go : ASUS P5QL PRO iP43 Socket 775 motherboard Intel quad core Q8300 2.5 GHZ 4GB (2x 2GB) Crucial 800 mhz DDR2 PC-6400 Nvidia 9800 gx2 graphics card Antec Earthwatts 750W PSU Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB Cache LG CH08LS10 Super Multi Blu-Ray Reader Windows 7 32 bit (because the old mobo was baaaad) Thats it I think.

OK i installed the replacement PSU and guess what.... I had the EXACT same problems as before -.- a friend told me that ebyuer rarely test faulty returns and send out replacements regardless. Anyway I continued to install the new motherboard and bingo ! The PC has life... However, windows fails to load... First time i turned the PC on it came up with " Delete restoration data to proceed to boot menu" i clicked yes and now the following happens: When I turn the machine on it says something like "hard disk not detected!" but continues to load windows anyway. After about 2 secs it crashes and restarts. It then prompts you to run windows startup repair. 2 minutes later it tells me windows cannot fix the problems preventing it from starting. I tried restoring the PC to an earlier point in time and did a memory diagnostic... no positive results here. I think i need to run i bios update of the disk that came with the mobo... except when i put it in nothing happens even when i select the CD drive as primary boot device. I'm way out of my depth here. Any ideas haha?

Ive just heard from ebuyer.com... They tested the PSU and confirmed it was faulty. A replacement is being sent sometime today :)

Hi there, I presume thermal paste was used as i bought the motherboard with the CPU already installed. I moved the power cord going into the PSU very slightly and the 'clicking' noise stopped. After this it started up, but crashed shortly after and hasnt booted up properly since. I don't think the current motherboard makes any beeps anyway because its very basic... It's also not really compatible with my gfx card which is why ive just bought a new one :)

Just finished my PC build... had a decent power supply: Antec EarthWatts 750W Modular PSU - 80plus Certified 9x SATA 4x PCI-E - Ebuyer After about 30 mins the computer crashed. Just had a blank screen and all the fans went into overdrive. I noticed that clicking noises were coming from the PSU and adjusted the power cord, then it booted up properly only to crash again. Now, when I turn the machine on, all the fans fire up to full speed but fail to drop down to normal operating level. The LED on the mobo is on and also the disk drive opens and closes. Everytime the screen is just blank, ive tried removing the GFX card and using the onboard graphics video inputs but everytime the same thing happens. I've been told the PSU is likely to be the faulty part, but im not entirely sure as clearly power is getting to everything. It's being sent back next week. Help anyone?
