Well i found my copy of XP, attempted a repair but was told there was an administrator password in place so was unable to proceed further. I can only think it was the guy who built the system for me did that? So i have ended up having to start from scratch! I still have all the installing and setting up to finish, not the result i wanted but i'll get there eventually. Thanks for the advice Mike.

Thanks very much! That link is interesting and does sound about right. My XP cd is in a box somewhere at my friends due to a house move, i will try and find it this weekend to try the recovery console option! I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks Mike

Sorry, it is a desktop! I will definately try the other suggestions. I just wish there was some way to restore the damn thing back a few days!

Hello! Hoping someone can offer me some advice! I have a pc running xp service pack 2, it normally works pretty much spot on. Today i bought a Nexxus micro bluetooth dongle, installed it following the instructions for a system running xp. All seemed ok and it worked, then a msg popped up telling me i needed to run checkdisk which i duly did. Now my machine will not boot up, it gets so far then briefly flashes up a blue screen (too fast to read details), then it goes to the old safe mode etc start up screen, but whatever choice you take here it just repeats and cycles back! Just before safe mode screen it beeps three times?? Should i just take it outside and shoot it :) Thanks Mike
