Ah, thank you so much, Magma :) I will remember that, very good tip. Now, if you can find me several of those old laptops you use to work with, as I asked for ( for charity) in another post- you will be my hero ;) Thank you!

I am supporting a small Bulgarian private shelter for orphans and homeless people in a village in the middle of the country. This is their Facebook page, which I just created yesterday: https://www.facebook.com/HristoAtanasov.VelikoTurnovo I would like to ask if you or someone you know have unwanted devices like old, but working laptops, mobiles, tablets, smartphones to donate for this shelter. I will collect via the post and will send them to the shelter. The shelter consists of people of all ages and especially the youngsters will be really happy to work on their homeworks on laptops and have access to the internet. You can also donate money if you wish in the bank account shown on the Facebook page. These money will go for food, bills and preparation for the new academic year for the students. Please, message me on here, or on the Facebook shelter page for details. Please, spare whatever you can, your donation will be highly appreciated. Thank you all very much in advance.

Hello, My son's almsot new (few months old) laptop Lenovo Z500 stop charging. I checked all the help I could find online on my laptop. So far: 1.Lenovo offers this, but it didnt work: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-and-U-series-Laptops/Ideapad-Z400-or-Z500-battery-will-not-charge-plugged-in-not/ta-p/1139477 2.I found this as well: http://offthewallchina.blogspot.com.es/2012/07/lenovo-plugged-in-not-charging-battery.html but I just cant get to the battery (despite all tutorials from Lenovo and few on youtube) and already have few plastic pieces around the laptop, so I decided to just stop trying to open it to perform what they suggest. Is there anyone who can give better suggestion to make the battery charge again, as my son really needs his laptop for his studies, has few books downloaded there. We have around 2 h battery left, when we just turn it off to save this energy for potential repair activities. Thank you very much in advance.

Windows 8.1 - three problems that I cannot fix myself :(
Yockie replied to Yockie's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Thank you both for your help. I dont think I want to go back to Windows XP. Having worked on Windows 8.1 for the past few days has actually shown me that I want to move on with the times. So what I will do now is try and look for a suitable brand new laptop to purchase and start from scratch. -
Windows 8.1 - three problems that I cannot fix myself :(

Hi RandyL, Thank you for your reply. I was with Microsoft Windows XP and updated to Windows 8.1 precisely because I kept getting a message about "This will no longer be supported" and I wanted to have a working anti-virus and OS, considering my previous PC issues (which I've shared on here :-) ). If you are saying that it is a time for a new laptop then I think it definitely is :D I'll use this one until I decide what to go for - any suggestions are welcome for my new purchase (should I even be going for a laptop or a tablet maybe...?) Thanks again for your efforts  -
Windows 8.1 - three problems that I cannot fix myself :(
Yockie replied to Yockie's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Thank you both KenB and RandyL. I tried to run the Intel Support and it has been "running" for over 12 hours now, saying the same thing "Analyzing compute" (screen capture attached ). So I dont think it will work... In terms of Drivers & Downloads for Dell Latitude D610 I had already gone there, before asking on here, and I downloaded everything, but it would not run everything, but tell me it cannot be configured. It also pops up random messages, like the one attached... As for the cable - its even odder, because the laptop has internet, but only if I plug the cable in the second LAN port. Not in any of the other three on the router. So now I have internet by being cabled, still no video on SkyPe and no video controller installed... -
Hi, Sorry to bother you but I have three problems (that may be interconnected) that I have been trying to sort out for two days and since I have not been able to do so I thought it is time to get on here and ask for help: 1. My video controller is impossible to update and I don't know what to do with it. 2. My wireless connections keeps coming on and off and it is driving me INSANE!!! Every 30 seconds I am in and then out. I cannot chat with people, I cannot watch BBC iplayer, etc. 3. On the odd (i.e. literally 3 occasions) that I have been able to video Skype people I cannot see them (even though they can see me, they can hear me and I can hear them). Oddly, I can use Google Hangouts just fine (audio and video) and I have watched a couple of YouTube videos OK too. I have just upgraded to Windows 8.1 from Windows XP. I have a Dell Latitude D610. I am attaching a screen shot of the internet driver and my problematic video controller. Any help will be appreciated (even if it is to tell me the video controller is unfixable and so is the internet - at least I will stop wasting my time trying to get them working!!!). Hi etavares, I did removed AVG leftovers, but then had to remove ESET before OTC, because OTC told me that it is unhappy with ESET and I have to rid of ESET first . All good in the end, only I’m not sure what to do with Malwarebytes – I don’t particularly like it or need it, should I just delete it? In regards of the optional steps: 1. HOSTS thing I did not get AT ALL. 2. http://www.windowsupdate.com, there was Pack3 for Wind XP, I think I downloaded it, but can’t be sure. I did it ones pressing just RUN, and one SAVE first ( I am not always sure what am I doing on the PC...sorry...) 3. I do update my antivirus regularly (thank you) 4. Secunia – ran it few times, every time it gave me few suggestions for updates, I did download the updates, and when ran one more time for security – it showed the same as before I downloaded it! On the 1001st go I gave up, but thank you anyway. Thank you for all your help, very nice of you to do that.

Are these logs showing some problems?
Yockie replied to Yockie's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hi Starbuck, It has been 3 full days since my daughter completed your instructions. The PC runs the same, neither faster, nor slower, but that’s ok, as long as it actually runs well. Thank you for all your help, as usual – pleasure working with you. The only thing left now is to tell me which one of the programs to delete and how to do it. -
Hi etavares 1. I will number my post, as I cant manage to separate the lines here , 2. I never update Java, I thought it updates itself, is it not?? 3. I had AVG, my son is firm fan, but I removed it ( I thought I did) and now I have Microsoft Essentials. Pls, have a look at the attachment, I made print screen of my programs, and there is no AVG there. If it hides somewhere else - pls, tell me :):):) 4. tell me how to remove the tools, as I dont know which tools and how to remove them, when the time comes. 5 Thank you for the help, if I missed to say that so far :)

Are these logs showing some problems?

Thank you Starbuck, for the very detailed and easy to understand post. My daughter did all you said and we are now waiting few days to see will it work better ( a bit at least). Will keep you informed, and thank you again. -
Hi etavares You can see all the process of ESET on the pdf file I attached in the previous post. As I didnt know how to preserve it for you (it didnt indicate that will produce a log) - I did Prt Scr in several stages of the ESET scan, + in the end you can see the result in the last 2-3 Prt Scr. It did find 10 some-things-I-didnt-understand-what, and I clicked to delete them (oops ?? or...?)Please, have a look at my pdf file, or I can send word file as well, but its too big for attachment.

Hi etavares,Thank you very much for overestimating my PC abilities. LOL. :-) :-) :-) I tried to follow all four steps, but turns out it was with variable precision. I am not sure do I have 32 or 64 bits IE, but looked up on the net and decided that mine is 32.On the OTL it came as one log, as I didnt press Quick scan, but Run scan. The second one seemed good, but the third one did not came up at all as you said, but with some different icons and options. As you have the strict pattern to pay me attention ones a day only, I didnt want to waste today for just asking you the silly question - "do I do it right" ( I suspected I do not anyway) and decided to just do it 50-50 your and my way. I made a print screen pictures, because I thought this will make you deal with that easily. I made it PDF, as word file was too big, but if you want - I can send the word file to you as well. Please, let me know how acceptable was my work today to you.Thanks.P.S. I've attached the logs, as oppose to write them out in the post, as everything I write seems to come out squashed, so I thought I bet on the safe side this time and just do attachments.
