  1. Thanks. can I just check that you're suggesting that I plug the laptop into the router via the ethernet cable? If so I have done this, but it asks me for password which I can't remember. so sorry not to have said this. +Mosey3
  2. I have a laptop running XP. I also have a Mac desktop, but this is probably irrelevant. My network has a modem and a wireless router. My Mac is connected to this set up and I have no trouble acessing the internet from it. However, I cannot access iTunes on my Mac as the operating system is too old, so i want to use my PC laptop for it. The wireless setup is working, BUT I have forgotten the thing that helps me access it via my laptop.:( I bought a cable to connect the laptop to the router and stuck it in one of the holes, but still I can't connect when I put the other end in the PC. I have no idea what to do. My router in Netgear Wireless G Router WGR614. Before I put in the white cable to access [hopefully] the internet on my PC laptop, there were blue yellow cable and black one in the router. The blue and black are into/from the modem, and I guess I put the yellow into my computer I think?? My internet provider is Virgin cable. I live in a hollow so access by a stick won't work. My Apple Mac is a desktop and is encased in a heavy cupboard, so accessing the cables is not easy. I think I plugged in to the back of the Mac a little stick that came with the Mac which was something to do with the internet. I think the man who set up the cable [from the internet provider] said something about unplugging something from the back. I ought to have called myself bear of little brain, as in Winnie the Pooh
