  1. Hi, I have a Dell 8400 Desktop computer (P4, 630 (3.0GHZ), HT, 2 MB, Em64T running Windows XP. This problem just started 2 weeks ago. When I put an audio cd in Drive D (the top drive), Windows Media Player (10.0.0.36460) comes on but it doesn't recognize the audio cd. Instead, I get the following error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. If the file is on another computer, verify that you are connected to the network." However, if I just click on the small top arrow next to "Now Playing" in WMP, it recognizes the D Drive and I can play all the tracks on the audio cd. I have no problem playing DVDs in the D Drive. I'd appreciate any help you can give me in solving this annoying problem. radioron
  2. Hi, Over the past week, I haven’t been able to use Nero Vision 4 (An application in Nero 7) to burn Verbatim Dual Layer Data DVDs even though I can burn Verbatim Single Layer DVDs without any problem. When I try to burn a Dual Layer Data DVD I get the following error message: E: Philips DVD+RW DVD8631 Generating DVD high compatibility borders Session fixation error X Could not perform end of Disc-at-once X Burn process failed at 2.4 (3,324KBS) Some other factors that may be helpful are: 1. My DMA setting is on 2. I have the latest firmware installed for my Burner 3. I have no other recording software on my computer 4. I only encounter a problem with dual layer dvds. 5. This problem seems to have started after I started using rewrittable dvds for a project. 6. I have used other dual layer dvds (Maxell) and had the same problem. 7. I cleaned the lens with a Maxell laser lens cleaner. It didn’t help. 8. 8. I tried burning at a slower speed (2X). No Change. I’d appreciate any help anyone can give me in solving this problem. Ron
  3. I tried uninstalling my USB ports in device manager and rebooting the computer. Unfortunately, that didn't help. The ports did not reinstall and I got an error message on each device that was plugged into the USB port. I then tired unplugging all the devices and rebooting the computer again. Same result. Finally after 4 hours of experimentation and having none of my USB devices working (wireless mouse & keyboard/ wireless remote, etc.), I used the restore function to get everything back to normal. Of course, the Verbatim store'n'Go USB Drive still does not work. Looking forward to working with you to resolve the problem.
  4. Dear Danzil, Yes, I tried it on other USB ports on my computer and the results are always the same. I've tried it on other computers and there's no problem with the computers recognizing the flash drive. I tried googling the problem and found a site that said the solution is to go to device manager, expand the USB Controller section, right click and uninstall all of the listed USB devices. Then reboot the system. The poster claims that XP will recognize that I have deleted the USB controolers and add the new hardware back to my system. I'm reluctant to try this because I'm afraid that doing this will cause everything not to work. What do you think? radioron
  5. I have a Dell Desktop 8400 Pentium 4 running Windows XP SP2. I just bought and plugged in a Verbatim 1 MB Store'n'Go USB Drive (does not come with software) and the "Found New Hardware Wizard" came up offering to Install the software Automatically. I choose that option only to receive an error message telling me that that it "Cannot Install this hardware. The hardware was not installed because the Wizard cannot find the necessary software". Also, when I checked devices in System directory it showed the Store'n'Go device with a yellow question mark and an Exclamation mark. My older 512 MB USB Drive works fine but I can't seem to find a solution to this error message. I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me in solving this problem. radioron
