  1. as previously stated, i had no Xp Cd come with my pc :/ is there a way i can download a graphics/display adapter on my sister laptop, to put onto a USB stick or something the maybe install it on my pc from the setup or boot options?
  2. it is plugged into the back of my computer above USB ports etc. there is no other way to install the graphics card back onto my computer? because i know that this is what i uninstalled (by accident). could i use ubuntu OS to install the graphics card on my windows OS? if it helps, i had a Intel integrated graphics card if i can remember correctly :) my vga cable works on another computer yes.
  3. by BIOS do you mean the start up screen? the one with the windows logo like? because i can see that. just beyond that blue bar wiggling left to right it goes blank. how would i wire it into the motherboards port? sorry if i lack the knowledge lol
  4. right, i have booted the OS from USB stick and it works :)) MY HP does have a recovery mode (F like you said). Disabled integrated graphics adapter, system running fine but blank screen? - Yahoo! Answers this guy has the exact same problem as me. before i do a factory reset. what does he suggest? because i have too many files on my pc to save all to USB. Look at what that pdl756 guy says...
  5. downloading Ubuntu now. so i boot up with that OS then save any of my files i wanna keep. then i would have to get a Windows XP disc (where from?) and re install windows am i right? Thanks for all your help man. much appreciated! :)
  6. It stops loading the safe mode ?codes? on the line ending in .MUP/sys i just tried changing my video adapter option in the boot setup. no luck still.
  7. This seems to be the exact same problem i'm facing :/
  8. I connected my laptop to my router via ethernet cable. this allowed my to gain access to my router and then find my PCs ip address. the Remote Desktop Connection wizard says it cannot connect. i don't think my PC was connected to the same network. This would be the cause of the problem i suppose? Could i do this via shortcut on my PC? a command prompt etc. i can still work my pc as said, just not see what i'm doing. so if you have xp too, maybe you could direct me on my keyboard... e.g. WINDOWS BUTTON>UP (x3)>RIGHT>ENTER>TAB (x2)>TYPE 'xxxx' just an idea? i have connected my sisters laptop up to my LCD TV via the same VGA cable and this works. So the cable (albeit temperamental) works fine. Thanks again matey.
  9. i tried the old CRT monitor that i originally connected my PC temporarily to. i am having the same problem with this one. (display disappers upon log o menu). i pressed tab twice then entered my password (whilst not being able to see what i was doing). this logged me on as i heard the welcome music. when i originally linked my pc to the CRT (when the initial blue screen tint occured) i remember going into my controll panel then clicking on the graphic controller cross box. i may have changed these settings or even deleted the controller. the blue tint was actually because of the bad VGA cable. then once i restarted i've been having this prob. so i am now on my home screen yet can't see anythng. is there a keyboard shortcut i could press to reset any changes or check for new hardware maybe? i can still do activity on my PC see. Thanks for your cooperation so far both! :) Note: I am usuing my sisters laptop who is on Vista,to post o this forum.
  10. it began to work through safe mode, but then it paused at one of the loading options? would it help if i state which line it stops at? all the pins are there and seem fine, but i know they are defective somehow because i can wiggle it and it will affect the colour of the screen. My only confusion with this is why the display works on the boot up screen, then disappears when the log on screen should come up. I bought my PC in 2004 from Comet, i can never remember it coming with the windows cd :/ Does this seem to be a prob with my OS or display? i might try another VGA cable to eliminate the option.
  11. Sorry if i'm new to all this, but i really need help with a problem that came about earlier today... My Hp computer has been linked up via VGA to my 19' LCD TV for a year now. today i swapped my TV for an old CRT monitor (via VGA obviously) because i was having a blue tint to my screen on my TV Monitor. I have since found out that this is due to my old/dodgey VGA cable. In the mist of struggling i seem to have delted my graphics card (not totally sure on this). Here is an outline of my problem: 1) Windows starts up fine with the boot screen (At this stage i can see the display.) 2) When the log on screen would come on, the screen stays blank. (I can still use my keyboard to log on, so the problem is the display, as i can hear the welcome music once i enter my password. But i cannot see anything.) 3) When i try to start up via Safe mode, the prcoess halts on one of the lines of (code maybe?) Can anyone help my resolve this issue please. Is there any other information i need to disclose to help identify the problem? Many Thanks, Kade. :)
