  1. It does have a USB connection as well, but I am out of USB cables and ports on the PC. Its all extra cost that I'm trying to avoid. Also, as this is something I have never had a problem with before on this PC I wish to find out how to fix it for future reference, we have many serial port printers here and I'm pretty sure more will be doing this if we get new...er printers. Thank you. Lon0
  2. I actually upgraded from the LQ-300 and bought the LQ-300+II directly from Epson, who are still making them. They haven't supported any new drivers for a long time though :( The LQ-300 actually worked fine on the same XP computer I am using through Serial port. I have narrowed down the problem I have. I fiddled with some settings and I now don't have any problem printing from any program other than Word, which still comes up with the message as before. I have a feeling that it is not the way in which the printer is connected to the PC, but how Word is coping (badly). I can't just get a new printer because I need a track printer and any models which have updated drivers with them are REALLY expensive. Any help is appreciated. Lon0
  3. Hi all, I am running Windows XP Home, with Service pack 2. I have recently installed a new Epson LQ-300+II printer with the latest drivers. It is connected through a serial port on my computer. The problem which I am having is that whenever I try to print anything, I receive a message stating that It 'cannot create/open file mapping', the printer still processes and prints the jobs I send it, but every time I send a job this message pops up. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks
  4. To fix your SKU011.CAB issue when you open excel, you can try this. If you have never edited your registry before I would back up all your work and backup your registry. To backup your registry click start, run and type 'regedit', a two pane window will open. Go into the File menu, and select Export. Find the location of where you wish to store the registry backup file, and type in a name for the file. Click on the Save button. Close the registry editor down and save the file on a memory key or any other external device. Now to fix Excel: 1) Access the registry editor by clicking start, run and then type regedit. 2) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, click software, click microsoft, click Office, click 11.0 and then delivery. 3) There should only be one directory under delivery which is your DownloadCode (something like 80000309-6000-11B3-8CEE-0140047383C) Select that directory. 4) On the right hand side of the screen, right-click on cdcache and change the value to 0. Close down, restart and try to open Excel. To deal with your space issues, I find the best program to clean unwanted files is Ccleaner. Its also free! Hope this helps
